I just want the one-and-only Speedo Solar to get the attention it deserves

I agree with all of you dudes that the Speedo Solar 1" swim brief rocks! I love wearing this swimsuit and the Sporti Solid 1" Swim Brief for laps, competitions, the beach, aqua fitness classes, and the hot tub!

I remember meeting up with a friend at the uni rec center for a swim. I knew he was a swimmer in high school but he always wore jammers. But this time, in our 5th year... I’ll never forget walking around the corner in the locker room and seeing him sitting there on the bench manspreading in a black t shirt and a pair of navy solars, bulge resting on the bench between his legs on full display...

Has anyone heard of the Speedo Bondi Brief, I got one NOS on Ebay a few years ago. It's got sub 1" sides, a cockseam to interlock the lining and it's proper nylon/lycra, so almost Solar but no arse seam though and the drawstring is off to one side a bit.

I used to have a couple of Speedo Solar Splice suits that had a spliced in color piece on each side of the front. I liked them a lot but they wore out.

I still have 2 of the Solar Thongs in black. I believe they are size large (possibly medium, I very carefully cut the tags out when I got them) I’ve worn them once or twice as underwear, sadly they’ve never seen sunlight. Only water they have seen was a hand wash then air dry. They still look and feel brand new. If they are going for that much, I may have to part with them I could pick up a few Skinz,JS, or whatever for that kind of $$$

Thanks man! Yeah, the bright colors always seem best on darker skin. Maybe that's why I only have one orange suit! It takes me a long time to develop good color.

Crazy that this was from Speedo! They seem like an entirely different company now, at least in the USA. Would love to find one of those. I also like their old shiny lycra material, like the white solar you posted. I have a couple from that era with the 2" sides, but haven't found any old solars.

My only Solar, and also, my only orange suit! Super comfortable suit, but I wish it was a true 1" side. I scrunched them up a little for the pic to mimic that.

Totally agree with what everyones saying - they are great suits, but only seem available in the US. Can't think why they don't sell them in UK or Europe - imagine they'd go down well over here. Managed to find a pair in navy - love the front and rear seams - make them really comfy to wear.

Nearer two inches than one, but have the front and rear centre seams. They still advertise the solars as 1in, even though they clearly aren't!? Love the fit - too many briefs kinda squash your tackle into place, but not the solar...

I own the 3 in sides and they’re okay. However, I notice when I switch to the Solar I keep so much more to be more supportive and form-fitting around the legs than Sporti brief.

I bought it as a gateway brief. It’s still undeniably a brief but the wider sides might save me some side eyes from more conservative swimmers.

How would you compare them to the Solar? I feel that the Solar looks more average-height when looking at the waist, which I like. The Euro looks like it rides low.

I recall that when the solars were really 1in sides they also produced mens thongs/T-backs with the same centre seam at the front. Seen some of these recently on ebay going for over $100!
