Avatar Issue

Post by Scotty » Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:10 pm

Hey guys - just a little advance notice. It appears that the avatar upload has been temporarily disabled. This may all be part of Dave's updates and I assume that we will see it corrected soon.

However, if you try to upload a new avatar, you may receive a permission denied message and then your avatar will be the dreaded "box with the red X"

Just a warning - and I'm sure Dave is on top of it so it will likely be rectified very soon.....

Don't worry - I was going to leave the same avatar up for a while, but another member had a problem, so I decided to try it out to see what the issue was and, well I guess I found out...lol

It's all good and my avvie will be back online soon - no worries mate!

So anyone know the technical reasons why it isn't working?

I use Firefox anyway, and I don't see any red X - just people either have an avatar or they don't appear to.

I've tried uploading an avatar on a couple of occasions (prior to this latest switch off) without success, possibly due to image sizing constraints. While I don't have any speedo pics of myself I do have a couple of nice close ups I could use. I await the return of a workable avatar so I can add something.
As I said, I don't have any pics of myself wearing speedos (which would have been nice on an individual level) so I considered using a facial pic of myself so you could see who you are conversing with. Something tells me to stick to a speedo avatar.., Is there anyone else using a facial avatar? ... just curious. Geoff 8)

Geoff - while I haven't been on this board for too long, I can say that I haven't seen any face shots as avatars ... lots of crotch and ass though
