Re: Ideal physique
There's an easy, nonscientific way to estimate body fat. Google "body fat percentage photos" and you see photos of guys in various body fat percentages. Simply compare the physique you see in the mirror to those in the photos. There was a college professor who did a lot of research and photography to come up with an interesting way to categorize body types and sizes and shapes. I forget the name it was given but it was fascinating.

oh I've never heard of such thing it's interesting. so each blood type require different kind of food?Thom wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 10:42 am
Wow, thanks Rozelle. I'm particularly interested in the use of whey protein and glutamine. I'd read about them before. After I read your post, I bought some whey protein. I prepare most of my own food. Fish, meat, eggs and veggies. I've found Peter D'Adamo's book, "Eat Right for Your (blood) Type," to be helpful. My blood type (B) should not eat corn products or whole wheat flour. Eliminating whole wheat helped a lot. I immediately had more energy. Because lately I've been working long hours, I mainly use a rowing machine at home for exercise, also Hindu squats to warm up. I weigh 143 (67kg) on a 5' 10" frame (177cm). A weight/blood pressure machine at the local pharmacy says I have a BMI of 22. Not sure about the %fat. I'm about forty years older than you. I've been about the same weight for most of my life, mainly by being careful about carbs. You can maintain your awesome build for a lifetime.

Re: Ideal physique
The book lists foods that are beneficial, neutral, or an avoid for your blood type. His theory is considered controversial by some, and by no means a miracle cure. But there's nothing harmful about it. Just finding out I should avoid whole wheat was worth the price of the book. For a negative view, this Wiki entry claims the theory is a fad with no scientific basis.

I could fill pages with pictures of guys with what I consider to be an ideal physique, but here are twins that exemplify it, in my humble opinion..

Re: Ideal physique
This is cropped from a photo Scotty posted recently. This is about as perfect as the male form gets in my opinion. It’s unusual to see such highly developed and striated obliques.

Re: Ideal physique
Hi everyone. I am new to the forum. Some great pics in this thread.
I am originally from Australia and worn speedos (and when younger thongs) all my life on beach and at hotels etc. I am now in USA but still wear speedos at hotels here or when I go on holidays. Alas I don't look like the pictures in this thread but am still pretty fit for mid 40s (I hope so anyway)

Just make sure it’s not too large or it won’t post.

It took me forever to upload my avatar. Keep trying!
I'm trying to post some pics, too. Surely it's not rocket science.

Re: Ideal physique
Great pic. I like that suit, too. Is it the Speedo "The One"?
Re: Ideal physique
Thanks very much. Yes that is it. Very small size and tight - had to go up sizing compared to usual but very comfortable and have worn on several holidays. Love the color
Re: Ideal physique
Yes the colour is great with a tan. Going to get a light pink and aqua blue one as soon as they have my size
Re: Ideal physique
Here’s another ideal physique.

Re: Ideal physique
Google "somatotyping" for an interesting study of describing and categorizing the male physique beyond the three common basic terms (ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph). How it came about was kind of odd and kinky, has even been called perverted and obscene so many of us would really be into it, lol. A result of Dr. Sheldon's research is called "Atlas of Men" in which many hundreds of guys were photographed naked and their shapes were carefully cataloged, analyzed and compared. If you dig deep enough on the subject you find instructions on how to actually do a proper somatotype. That would be fun to do here in this group.

Re: Ideal physique
The Swim Bod. We see it a lot in so many photos in this forum. Slender, lean yet well muscled. Wide shoulders, narrow hips, well developed pecs, huge lats, big biceps and visible abs. The swimmer. Perfect speedo model....:::sam:::... wrote: ↑Sat Apr 21, 2018 5:19 am
Early 20's. blonde and blue, described above (Athletic. That light, trim, defined but not pumped really fit looking body. Just healthy looking.)and actually fit, refined, intelligent, motivated and a good person.
So where's Santa!
Re: Ideal physique
At 59 years old I'm hardly what I'd call the ideal physique any more. I think I had it and even pretty well maintained it from about the age 16 thru 40 though. I would daresay even now that I'm in far, far better shape than most guys half my age, maybe even a third. What I see at the gym and pool every evening really isn't too impressive. There are some great swim bods in the membership rolls at this forum for sure, if we were doing a "swimsuit competition" (although it isn't the suit) and judged the results (first place through whatever thousandth) we'd have some interesting data.
I've emailed you some swimsuit photos and videos, you're welcome to share them here. I don't have anything we haven't all seen before...
