Sure. At the beach. On occasion I will slip out of my running shorts and run along the edge of the water.

Nope. Can't seem to justify it. I wear either side-split shorts, compression shorts or running tights (and never, ever shorts over compression shorts or tights! ... what's the point???)

Unless you're on the beach or competing in a triathlon why would you wear a swimming costume to run? I mean seriously, it is a swim suit.

Do you wear a snowsuit when water skiing? How about tuxedo when painting the exterior of your house? Would you wear a three-piece suit when deep sea diving?

Triathletes tend to wear tri suits nowadays anyhow.

And no, I can't see the point if running in a speedo.

Each exercise has the appropriate attire designed for what you are doing, but a speedo running down a neighborhood street, would definitely be a head-turner; but hey, you live in California, and isn't your state motto "anything goes!"??? :D
Let's keep it brief.

I don't run in a speedo/briefs because my thighs would chafe too much. Between weight lifting and cycling, my legs are muscular enough that the upper portion of my thighs rub together and would create some painful chafing if I wear anything other than my underarmour boxer-briefs.

I think I would just run in running shorts to be honest, however if you are on the beach and you run in one then thats fine in my opinion.
Life is too short to worry what other people think.

Yes, at the beach, but not elsewhere.

Well, I have to say I worn a Speedo suit running multiple times. This includes races and daily runs. I find it liberating and comfortable, especially when it's hot and humid. This year, I have done this 4 times and never had a negative comment.
