Thinking about getting out.

Post by Texas_swimmer » Tue Mar 04, 2014 7:17 pm

Hey guys lately I have been thinking about getting rid of my entire speedo collection. I have been thinking lately that I more than likely will never wear a speedo to the beach because of the stigma attached to it, and lately when I go to the pool at my gym I dont feel comfortable anymore. So Im thinking about selling my entire selection of suits. I will post pictures of them for y'all to choose which ones you like/want. Most of my suits are small like in 30-32in waist so I dont know if that is an issue. Also I have never sold anything online before so bear with me.

Ill update this thread later when I get a chance.

Forget about what other people might be thinking. How does it feel when you wear them? Are they more comfortable than board shorts? Do you swim better in speedos? If public opinion is that bad in your area, then I guess you should go ahead & sell.

You could still wear them under boardies...

Sorry to hear it T-S, don't let the views of others cloud your decisions though....remember you live in the land of the free ;-)
I might be interested in buying some of them depending on funds etc if you do decide to sell......

Oh, I would so keep at least some of them ... there can always be an opportunity to wear one. I look back at the suits I got rid of because I was bored with them ... and wish I had some of them back!
Check My Collection in Photos ... always adding new pictures! Fletch.

If you can do so, please please go on vacation. Take a trip to Hawaii. Or the caribbean. Or Florida. Bring all your speedos with you and wear nothing but a speedo on one of those beautiful beaches with complete comfort and confidence knowing that you are just as anonymous as everyone else there, and everyone is on vacation, and if every other dude had as rockin' great a body as you do, most of them would be wearing speedos too. But please don't sell off all your speedos. You'll only end up buying another one or two or ten in the future because you love speedos. And the world needs more guys that love speedos!

Texas, you are in serious need of a vacation away from where you live. It would be unfortunate to loose you as a fellow speedo wearer!

Please don't do something that you could very much regret after taking such an action.....
Let's keep it brief.

I'd encourage you to keep at least a few pairs! You can always wear them at the pool, at home, and on vacation. I'm sorry to hear you feel that way though- let's hope speedos come back into style in the U.S. soon.

Definitely keep them. Like others have suggested, take them with you on vacation and wear them as often as possible!

Hey there, I sincerely hope that you won't give up on wearing speedos! If you find it difficult to wear speedos to the pool, perhaps you can try to wear them as underwear instead? I know of some guys who have such a large collection of speedos that they use speedos as everyday underwear :) just to create more opportunities to wear them. Perhaps you can try that out? Cheers.

I agree that you should keep a few pairs, and make a trip to a beach outside of your area--If you ever get to the east coast, PM me and ill be glad to head to the beach with you. I'm sure a few buddies on here would also join up to hang out for the day!

DONT SELL OFF YOUR COLLECTION!!

I feel I need to share a story of mine here.
At some point in my life in my early 20ties I already had a large collection of speedos and underwear.
Back then in time I enjoyed this very much - but somehow felt it might not be right.
All of my friends or roommates were normal - like they had a few pair of underwear and that's it. They didn't pay attention at all about what they were wearing underneath.
Soon or later I started feeling a little bit like the freak in the company.
I didn't know quite the meaning of the word fetish, nor I had anyone to talk with about this.
Internet was poor and just beginning to exists - meaning no forums or whatever.
Social media was non-existing and no body even knew the term 'social media' :) LOL

So, one day I just put 99% of my stuff in a plastic bag and threw it in the trash bin - thinking this is the right thing to do and so I would not be the freak of the company.
A few days later I realized that this was the most foolish thing I have done, not only my collection was gone, but I was blaming myself for what I am.
Then I realized that throwing away stuff will not change my personality and I need to accept the way I am and stop struggling with bulshits and what other people may think or my be thinking. It was a turning point in my life.
Today - I keep speedos, which I wore 10 years ago - they don't get much use and the fabric is loose and scratchy, but sometimes, just looking at them - it brings sweet memories.

So, if you in any way find similarities between your motives to sell off and my story - let me tell you - not worth it.
Keep you speedos and just enjoy them as much as you can.

First off I want to thank everybody for the kind words y'all are really great! Also I have decided that I wont be leaving the speedo scene, I was just having a bad month in February and thought speedos in my life were a negative thing. I do agree I need to get away from my local beaches and go somewhere else to get comfortable wearing them. I am however in college about 200 miles away from the beach so I wont be able to go there until June maybe. :/
Of course my college gym has an outdoors pool that I am going to use as soon as it warms up. (I desperately want a speedo tan :P) I have worn speedos before there but I still get extremely nervous about going there in a swim brief and I am still nervous about doing it. Of course Ill just get over it by just going. The good news is I have seen other guys wearing them so I know I'm not alone lol.

I feel we may need to create our own series of "It Gets Better" videos regarding speedos.

Glad to hear that Texas :)

Wear what you're most comfortable in of course. But generally I agree with the other guys. Especially if you're area isn't big on speedos - take a trip to Australia, or South America or Europe (if you haven't already) and you'll soon realise that in the majority of places, most people wouldn't bat an eyelid to someone wearing a speedo at the beach or pool.

And once you get back home, you won't even think twice about wearing your speedos at the pool or beach.

That was my experience anyway.

Best of luck :)

glad to know you're keeping some of your speedos! And, you guys all have great avatars...that made me want to post my own ;-)

I agree about wearing speedos on vacation...it's a good intermediate step. at a hotel in mexico, I got so comfortable I could wear my speedo in the lobby while using wifi, nobody seemed to notice or care, and I loved just hanging out in my speedo!
