Different cuts for speedos in Asia and Europe/USA?

Watching a lot of Asian speedo pics I seems to me that Speedos, Arenas etc. in Asia have a different cut that those in Europe or the USA. Is this true or just a visual illusion?

I think its true. They have narrower sides, are cut lower in front and smaller in back compared to speedos you buy in the US. The size names run smaller. A medium in an Asian is more like a small in US. You kind of have to have a small butt to wear them in any size I think. I bot a Japanese Aqux and its hot. I also have an Asian jammer. It fits low and tight and has a hotter looking cut than a US Jammer. After you've worn an Asian jammer you'll never wear a US one again.

Hi Justin,

thank you for the information. I ordered just a pair of Aqux and I am really curious about them :-)

Do you have any idea where to order Speedos and Arenas etc. from Asia?

Hey Mitch!

Ebay has a few stores. Accentix is one based in Singapore. They have some speedo suits by Arena that are around $30 plus shipping. The true Japanese made ones are more. Qstarlit is another ebay store. I bought a Yingfa jammer from them that I like. They have mostly generic Asian brands like Yingfa. They are Asian cuts. Another ebay store, Sparkles248 has a lot of Japanese brands, including some hot Mizuno water polo speedos. This store has the best selection. Can cost a lot tho. But you get super low cuts and the mesh butt seam.

On the internet http://japanswimshop.com/ Japan Swim Shop has a great selection of Arena, Mizuno, Asics, and Speedo. Expensive but true Japanese cuts.

My first Aqux

Post by Mitch » Fri May 08, 2009 10:33 am

Hi,

ok, today my first Aqux arrived.

They are really small, small, small. Usually I have 29-30 size and so I ordered a M. And they are really tight... I am glad that actually I am cutting weight (from 69 kg to 64 kg) ... so I guess when I reach the 64 kg they will fit.

But to all folks out there, considering to order Aqux: Order them large enough, otherwise the important things will be compressed

The shipping was SUPER FAST. I placed my order on May 1 and today May 8 they arrived, from Japan to Germany. Great!

Ok, by the way, I am still looking for (the sold out) Aqux "Naughty Boy" in Cobalt Blut (in L).

Greetings from Berlin
Mitch

suit manufacturers in different countries for a company like Speedo or Arena are licensees of the main company. that's why sizes, styles, colors, etc. differ from country to country. also, the licensee has a protected territory and can't sell product outside that area, and likewise other licensees can't sell in his territory.

that's probably why Speedo in the USA doesn't offer much in the way of "competitive" swimsuits. it makes and sells the far more popular (profitable) board and volleyball shorts. and speedo licensees from other countries can't sell their more expanded "competitive" swimwear product lines here.
