I often see the term "speedo friendly" being used in this forum and other groups. To me, a place that has been designated as being speedo friendly is defined as some location that accepts guys that wear speedos and where speedos are often seen on men.
My point is, how do these places become speedo friendly? My answer is because of us. It's not because of the people there or because it is not patrolled by the fashion police. All it takes is just one person to be brave and don their speedo. We have to be the ones who make these speedo friendly, it won't happen any other way.

Re: What Makes A Beach Speedo Friendly
I think Speedo Friendly as a country or region that seeing a Speedo is common place. That the swim brief is the go to choice of attire to the beach. What I wouldn't like to see is Speedo Friendly being treated Like a naturist beach. Signs stating "Pass this point you will see males wearing a swim brief". It's ok saying we have to be the ones to make it speedo friendly but surely it is down to the fashion designers and sports wear manufacturers to label them as swimwear / beach wear. To tell people that it is okay to wear them at a beach. After all they dictate what fashion is on the beach and round hotel pools. Until the shorts get shorter (80's shorts length) I think the board short will rule the beach. The speedo will be a thing of beauty and limited to swimming laps.
Love speedos, running shorts, rugby shorts, Aussie rules footy shorts.
Re: What Makes A Beach Speedo Friendly
I can't imagine there being a Speedo Unfriendly Beach. I've never been anywhere that had people acting poorly about what I'm wearing.
People are judgemental. As far as swimwear is concerned I don't think it's the speedo they are concerned about, probably more the physical condition of who is wearing it. I think we all know that some bodies just don't look real great in a speedo and maybe when such certain types wear one in public they are kind of opening themselves up for ridicule. A superbly toned swimmer or body builder could get positive, admiring, even adoring looks and comments. A guy with the physical attributes generally considered unappealing might get some scornful grimaces and rude comments and there will be laughs either immediately or later at happy hour.
I know we here at speedoforum don't want to ever be the latter. We would never suggest to a guy that he might ought to be wearing boardshorts and a tee shirt, would we? So that people out there who get offended by seeing a guy they find disgusting can blame the speedo he's wearing? No. Can't go there, huh...

Re: What Makes A Beach Speedo Friendly
What makes the pool at my athletic club speedo friendly is that the aquatics director says they are okay and that there not against the rules. There is only me and one other man that I've ever seen wear one but there's nothing anyone can do about it if they don't like it.
As far as beeches go I would say just wear one unless it there's a rule posted against it. While private facilities can have their own rules I have read that Speedo's are not illegal anywhere in the United States.

Re: What Makes A Beach Speedo Friendly
dont see why speedos isnt allowed at beaches..-_-
Re: What Makes A Beach Speedo Friendly
I've never heard of a speedo being forbidden anywhere. Perhaps something skimpy like a see through poser suit or a thong or my mini half jok would be but still the closest hint of a rule I ever saw posted was "appropriate swimwear only, no cutoffs allowed" But a competition brief? No way.
Re: What Makes A Beach Speedo Friendly
The rules at my athletic club pool say "appropriate swimwear required". I asked the aquatics director if speedos were appropriate. She said yes. What they don't want is nude swimming or street clothes, gym shorts etc in the pool.swimmy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2017 9:53 amI've never heard of a speedo being forbidden anywhere. I did some research on the topic and discovered that some private facilities have a no swim brief rule. I suppose the same places would have a no bikini rule as well. Those I came across had religious affiliation.
I don't intend to wear one but I have wondered if it is legal or not to wear a thong at a beach or is that indecent exposure? It seems most indecent exposure laws only include genitals and female nipples. The buttocks usually isn't included. However I have heard of people being arrested for mooning someone.
