Swimming with a Group of mates

Post by Boywear » Thu Jul 25, 2013 3:19 pm

I'm 22 and have totally fallen in love with Speedos, both in and out of the pool! It's the feel, the look and of course the buldge that makes me love them. However, i've still not crossed the bridge of just wearing the speedo when out with a group of mates, when they are all out in Shorts etc.

This is happening tomoz and though i'd love to wear the speedo, I've just not got the "balls" to do it, (metaphoracally)... They've no idea about my love of Speedos and would just not let it go if i wore it =/

If I were Lap swimming or at a pool/beach where i knew nobody, i'd be fine, (like in my DP) I just can't do it around mates =/ so tomorrow i'll be wearing them... just under a horrid pair of black shorts...

Does anybody else have these issues, fine up untill people you know see?

Dude, most of us are with you, but you got to just show your great speedo to others. Go it slow and try out those you might think are more receptive and work from there.
Let's keep it brief.

Some ideas:

Wear the speedo under a pair of shorts that are slightly loose. Then the waistband of your speedo will show when you're just hanging out, just like briefs/boxers would. And as your shorts sag, more of your speedo will be visible.

Wear a pair of shorts that are slightly see-through when wet. So if your speedo is red, wear a light red pair of shorts. When you're really feeling brave, get some light colored shorts.

If you'll be meeting your buds somewhere, arrive early and swim some laps in your speedo. Then like it's no big deal, put on your shorts when the first guy shows up, with no embarrassment. After all, your speedo is just what you wear when you swim.

Good luck! We've all been there.

Do you change with your mates or do you change in the cubicles.
Most of my mates come with there shorts already on under their jeans and just strip in the locker room. you could mabey wear your speedos under your jeans and than take them off and put your shorts over your speedos, the guys will see but its no big deal its better than the guys who wear underwear under shorts.

I know what you are going through, I was in a similar situation. I went this summer with some friends to the beach and wanted to wear mine. There were 3 girls and 4 guys in our group and they were college friends. So I wore my Speedo under my shorts and when we got to the beach I waited till I felt comfortable to wear them. I honestly did not know how they would react, except one who is very homophobic. After a while I said to myself screw it, and went to the car like I went to get something. I took off my shorts and came out wearing it. The girls thought it was funny but not in a bad way and 2 of my friends thought it was funny but did not call me gay or stuff. My one friend who is not receptive to them was embarrassed by me. All in all it was a good experience. I did have a mother of a family scold me though bc her kids shouldnt see that. I was like yet fat ass women get away with disgusting revealing suits so stick it! In my mind I said that of course. So my point is you gotta do it when you think its right. I am no means out of my shell and get very nervous when I want to wear mine to the beach or pool with friends. So I understand what you're feeling. Good luck!

Thanks packedspeedo some great advise, the one i went for was a baggie short with the briefs poking out the top, I then went on to buy a pair of adidas red three strip and then told them i'd bought it, so next time they should all be prepared! But your also right i'll get to the pool early meet them in there so i can be swimming in the brief, Looking like a pro of course ;-)

I'm still nervous as hell about the next time, worried, like you say Texas_swimmer, about how they will be around other people, would hate for my mates to be embarrassed to be with me... but i'l just go for it! i never know one of my mates could change their ways and convert to a Speedo. In regards to your mates, soo glad you went for it! bet you looked great! and the mate that was abit "iffy" with it probs just didn't like being upstaged by a guy looking so much better than him!

All the changing happens in a cubical in most of the pools i go to, would be so much better if it was open changing, it wouldn't feel like such an exposure when i come out!

You guys give me so much confidence, much appreciated

How about wearing your Speedo's under your baggies, as others have suggested, then if you are all messing about in the pool or the sea, just whip your baggies off and throw them at one of your mate's. Try and get him in the chest or the head. They'll be a bit stunned because they'll mebe assume, at least for a second, that you are naked then they'll be laughing at your mate for getting someones shorts stuck to his face and they'll either not consider it relevent that you are in budgie smugglers or they'll get the message that you are alpha male man and you don't care who sees your speedo's.

I hope you laughed in her face Texas Swimmer. I can't imagine she was an oil painting in whatever she was wearing. BTW if she noticed "That" she was either looking for it [Her dirty mind!] or it was too big to ignore. Which would be cool!

Took the new Adidas to the pool today! felt amazing, wasn't swimming with mates so there wasn't any issue with shorts, just need to get over the mates thing as nothing compares to swimming in the brief. just feels soo good walking around the pool side, especially as it was a new brief.

Took some pics, might up load to here later =D

I say wear what makes you feel comfortable if your friends are truly your friends then they shouldn't care. We only have one life to live and we have to be true to ourselves. Who knows maybe you will inspire one of your friends to join you. Maybe your friends never thought about wearing speedos before because its what they have always known. You could be the one to introduce them to how amazing speedos are. I'm 21 and don't care what others think, I'm not ripped like a male model I'm actually skinny. I go to the gym and eat healthfully and love my body so I don't mind others. I'm so use to wearing speedos now its whats normal for me I couldn't imagine wearing shorts. Don't stress about it, its only a swimsuit and while it may not be popular to wear speedos doesn't mean people don't want to. Who knows maybe one of your friends has a secret love for speedos. I would love to here what your decision is and how it goes.

Great suit! You look really good in it. I'm so happy to see guys around my age into speedos. Just got back from the beach with my sister and cousin it was such a nice day. Wore the smallest one I have with no problems. Today though I did notice a few guys wearing square cuts which made me happy to see most of them were surfers.

You're on the right track Boywear, and great purchase on the Adidas! Starting wearing them around people you don't know to test the reaction and from the sounds of it, there wasn't any as the experience at the pool must have been okay? It was a long time ago, but I remember stripping down to the speedo for the first time at the pool, and no one looked twice; I think I was a little disappointed there wasn't a reaction.

Likely will be the same with the friends. We all have friends with speedophobia, but as said above, try it out with those most likely to not care, and go from there. You have to be yourself, because, that body of yours should not be covered with boardshorts!
Let's keep it brief.

Absolutely right, be comfortable with who you are and what you wear, the rest will just follow on.

Hey guys, just wanted to give you a little bit of an up date...
went swimming with mates the other day, and though I did, again, wear speedos under shorts, I changed in front of my two mates, showing off what I was wearing, though one was initially unsure, we finished the session with them moaning at me for wearing both! explaining I preferred the speedo, they agreed I should just wear it... though sadly they weren't converted themselves.

felt great at the end in the changing room just wearing the speedo ;-)

for God's sake - get over it and grow a pair. If you want to wear them - wear them. If your buds give you any hassle just say "You wear what you want and I'll wear what I want. These are my preference and those are yours. Now get over it and lets have some fun."
There are too many spineless, ball-less, wonders on this board. If you can't take teasing about something from your buds, you are too thin skinned. Teasing is a form of affection between men.
