Was just thinking about how small I've worn in public. This summer my boyfriend and I went to Asbury Park, NJ and then later on in the evening we headed to the "Boys of Summer" swimsuit party in Philadelphia. At both locations I wore my 1.7" (a weird size, I suppose) Japanese Speedo in dark navy. It's a pretty low-rise brief. I'm a big fan :)

My friends in Philly were also really surprised that I would wear something like that, but they seemed happy to see me in the suit LOL.

I'm not sure if I'm ready yet to go much briefer than this Speedo. It's pretty tiny but also respectable around most groups. I'm kinda shy so that'll be as small as I go for a while yet.

A Japanese speedo you say? I should check that out, I barely fit into most men's sizes, maybe something Japanese would be ideal!

And a Boosterjock is considered skimpy? Whoops, I just bought one for a swimming class at a public pool! Maybe I should pop down to Sport Authority and get a 'grandpa' speedo that goes up to my navel. Ah well, guess I'll just be the showoff in class!
I'm not the guy in my avatar. That's a model. I would never wear a white speedo to the beach. I. . . I'm not that cool.

SF_Castro, I bought the Japanese Speedos on ebay since obviously we don't have access to that kind of thing here in the states. I actually posted a picture of them earlier on the boards so you can see if that's the kind of cut you're looking for (thread name is "my first set". I'll re-post one of the pictures below. BTW this is size Medium in Japan.

As far as a boosterjock, I actually wore a pair of Squad boosterjocks while in California this summer. Trust me, the asian speedos are far more brief haha. To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of them. But they do look good in the pictures?

I'm gonna have to sniff around ebay then! Those speedos look awesome! My family is going to hate going to the beach with me from now on. (Or maybe I should save up some cash and head out to Japan. . . I wouldn't mind ogling some hot dudes in speeos like those!)

As far as the Boosterjocks go, I have noticed that they can get pretty uncomfortable if you wear them for a while sitting/laying down. I hope doing laps in them won't be an issue. If I weren't so competitive I could just get a normal speedo. . . but I have to be the guy with the biggest bulge! I'm gonna blame being 18 and painfully immature for that.

I could wear as skimpy as possible in public! Like in that photo! (No thongs, I don't like thongs!)

But I not longer want to, because the public beaches, pools in the U.S. doesn't quite welcome Speedos or less. I often got laughter, giggles from ladies when I was wearing bikinis at the beaches. One time, as soon as I arrived at the beach wearing a green 1/2" bikini, a few young ladies immediately picked up their camera and tried to take my pictures.

Another thing is, in New York City at the public pools, they check your swimsuits at the door before they'll let you in. The suits have to be not too revealing and with double lined front pouch!

WTF? So you can't wear a Nike Hydra in nyc public pools?

Of course you can wear Nike Hydra at New York City pools. They probably look at the brand too. Nike usually for swim competitions, they are well known and should be OK!

Aussiebum nylon white classic, Joe Snyders 1/2", thongs or string sides possibility not allowed!

I cut out the lining in my TRY swsimbriefs and my Speedos swimbriefs. They're both blue and not transparent when wet. I wonder if I would still be allowed to wear them. If worse came to worse, I'd simly wear them under my jeans and put a decent pair in my backpack. Could that be done? I ask in case I go to New York one day and decide to use their public pool.

I usually don't go too skimpy (what is skimpy, anyway?) in public unless I'm at a party or with friends (lots of friends). Usually though, I'll wear my favorite blue speedo under a tan-thru suit to maintain my tanline and not scare small children or cause wives to faint.

I think the reasons for this are 1) the skimpier I go, the less likely I'll be able to keep everything from "escaping" and 2) I have always worn underwear that is comfortable and not excessively brief. Why would I do any differently with my speedo wearing?

It's not that I'm not comfortable with my body, I just know what has happened in the past and thank the speedo gods I was home when the problems occured and didn't have to deal with anyone gaping at me in shock.

There were plenty of staffs all around. One person usually sat in the locker room, no cell phone in locker room, no stealing, etc. Walk out to the pool, again a lot of staffs and lifeguards. If your swimsuit were not appropriate, they would probably escorting you out and ask you to change to a different appropriate swimsuit. There was at least one cop stationary there! After all these NYC pools were mean for family fun.

One time I brought a non brand name combination lock, I was asked by the cop at the door to go buy a "Masters" lock then come back. Ended up I walked a mile or so to a bodega to buy the lock at an expensive price, shown the lock at the door before allowed to enter!

Maybe I sdhould just think twice about going to New York and using the pool. That's going overboard. To make someone go and buy a master lock. That's crazy!

I'm not really hung up on what other people think about my
swimwear choices.
Except of course... people I work with. At my present job it would
be tough to live down.

There are always public beaches where they are tiny swimsuits friendly. Brighton Beach in Brooklyn is pretty Speedo popular!

Whatever I told you before were the rules. But still staffs and guards were different from pool to pool, what would be appropriate depends on their thinking.

Let me tell you this story! I went to one pool on Manhattan, they checked my swimsuit and the CRAP lock, let me in. As soon as I got in the water, a small kid throw-up . Pool was going to be closed for hours. Immediately I went to another pool a few miles away. There, the cop told me to go buy a MASTER lock. After changed to my swimsuit, there were staffs at the pool entrance to check swimsuits, before allowing bathers to enter. But at the end I got to swim for hours!

I guess in the UK they're a bit more open minded. I know if your swimwear is too skimpy at a public pool where there's a mix of adults and kids, you could get in trouble. I saw an Asian guy in speedos at a community centre pool and the lifeguards said nothing. He had a nice speedo body. Most of the lifeguards were female so they might have enjoyed it. There were 2 male life guards, but they were in baggy board shorts :(.

I go on holiday to Turkey often where speedos and tiny briefs are the norm, I tend to wear as brief as possible for getting as much tan as possible and at 58 I can still wear speedos and still look good. 8)

Turkey. Truly a land of contradictions.

LGBT rights are constantly suppressed...

... and yet check out their national sport.
