Good evening,
I'm speedoboi and as many of you know, I live in Toronto, Canada. On July 11, there was a TV program on CBC (Channel 6 if you have Rogers Cable) showing male and female swimmers competing. All the male swimmers were wearing tech suits. I was surprised. I heard tech suits were not that popular. Where were the swimbriefss? The male swimmers were wearing tech suits manufactured by TYR & Speedo. I wasn't too happy. They were all in great shape. Tech suits don't hide anything, your bulge is still visible whether in a tech suit or swimbrief. When I was in high school, the guys on the swimming team wore swimbriefs. I belive they still do. I felt a bit discouraged to wear swimbriefs.
I know i shouldn't feel that way, but that's how I felt. I wish i could be in great shape like those swimmers or even like most members of this forum.
This is me:
Height: 5ft7 (I know, I'm short for a guy)
weight: 142lbs
body fat: 12%
My arms are skinny, but my chest is nice, and I have broad shoulders. My abs need some work, i ahve a slightlçy visible 2-pac. Moreover, I have nice muscular legs (I always loved cycling as a kid, so my legs are naturally nice in shape) I was able to leg-press 330lbs 48 times. I have 3 swimbriefs; 2 from TYR (size 32 & 30) and one from Speedo (size 32). If someone like me who doesn't look as awesome as those swimmers or like some members here (example, hotjunglekid, speedorod and Dave Evans) wears speedos to the pool when I go to the gym, and I'm the only one in speedos BTW, why can't those competitive swimmers be competing in swimbriefs?
If anyone from Toronto or the surrounding area is curious to find me at the pool, I generally use the Goodlife Fitness club located at 185 The West Mall in Etobicoke.
Your replies/critiiques along with private messages are appreciated.

competitive swimmers wear those suits because they make you faster... they actually streamline your body more in the water and push it away from you...

Thx for your reply. It's not like tech suits are no good. Based on what I've read about swimbriefs, they too streamline your body. I find it a bit easier to swim in them. I remeber reading that if you can buy one size smaller, than your speed can increase, but that depends also on how good you are as a swimmer. Personal opinion, swimbriefs should be worne.temec111 wrote:competitive swimmers wear those suits because they make you faster... they actually streamline your body more in the water and push it away from you...
I'm a size 32, but i purchased a size 30 TYR swimbrief, and it works well.
Re: Tech suits in swimming(Program on CBC, Toronto, Canada)
getting a size smaller to increase your speed is a myth.... and the tech suits streamline water away from your whole body not just the waist

Well the suits streamline, reduce resistance to the water. Some of them have some buoyancy which is supposed to be illegal and they also reduce muscle vibration and may increase muscle tone and reduce fatigue. Anyway, they cost a lot (even tech jammers can be $150 or more), broke a ton of world records at the Olympics and World games. So Speedo and TYR make money and sponsor swimmers and events. FINA talks about banning them but will never do it. I think Adidas tried to get them banned when their sponsored teams ditched their regular suits for tech. They had to or lose. People don't think of speedos as being athletic so much any more. Stupid.
I'm 5 10 and your weight.
