I Want To Be A Lifeguard

Post by Sam » Mon Feb 06, 2023 11:14 am

Hello! Is anyone out there a Lifeguard who wears swim briefs while on duty? If yes, are you more comfortable? How positive is the reaction from colleagues and "guests"? I plan on becoming trained to guard and will wear briefs during training. I am also planning on wearing briefs while I guard for comfort and practicality. If they want me to wear a T-shirt, I can. I also support female lifeguards who wear one-piece swimsuits and shorts while on duty. Thank you for this conversation.

What about female lifeguards who wear two piece swimsuits? All the female guards at my YMCA wear one piece suits. None of the guys wear speedos when they are on the stand. One guy wore jammers once, which was very hot to see.

At your ymca do you wear a speedo? Other guys wear speedos? I’ve heard ymca’s may not allow speedos for guys…

Really? For lap swimming? Will they make the swim teams wear jammers? This is crazy. I think I'm ready to move to Australia.

They allow speedo briefs. I've not seen any males in a thong.

At my YMCA most of the guys on the swim team wear jammers (as typical today), but there are one or two guys who do wear speedos during training. Speedos are allowed to be worn in the pool for either team or rec swimming.

I swim at the YMCA during the winter months and also do Masters there. Masters class it is mostly briefs but other times, I would estimate it to be 50/50.

Personally, I prefer female lifeguard in one-piece suits as it looks for practical to me.
If they choose to wear two piece swimsuits, I respect their decision.

Do you want to save lives, or just have a reason to tell folks why your work requires you to wear a swim brief?

Then why all the stress? Get your lifeguard training and certification (and license depending on your locality), apply for a job, then be the best darned lifesaver you can be. Unless there is an explicit rule on not wearing a swim brief wear yours with confidence and nonchalance as hundreds of thousands of lifesavers have in the last half century. Yikes.

Do you have any photos of male life gaurd swim briefs? When I Google it I only see swim shorts. Do they make male life gaurd swim briefs? I’m picturing a red brief with a white cross and it says “lifeguard” on them but don’t see such a brief

Any red swim brief or pair of shorts is a lifesaver suit. An accompanying t-shirt and/or windbreaker might have a local logo or white cross or even the word lifesaver or lifeguard.

The Andrew Christian red with white cross suits however aren't necessarily for real lifesavers but for posers and wannabes.

There are two posts over at Speedo Photos. One is called LIFEGUARDS N SPEEDOS. The other is called MALE LIFEGUARDS.
AQUX and TURBO make lifeguard briefs.
