I've not worn them myself but they are pretty popular with guys in Japan. You can find plenty of them to choose from on AliExpress, which I use all the time.
I know many Americans don't trust the site but I'm living in Thailand right now and use it all the time.
In many ways I think it is better than US Amazon, and it is certainly cheaper. Most merchants on the site are honest and helpful with chat replies to questions in minutes, and very friendly too. Delivery is my epacket, fairly fast and cheap even though the packages are coming from China. Check it out

KoalaSwim also has some side tie bikinis and thongs. I'm personally not a fan of the style, so I can't give any pointers, but I did see some there.
