I got to it through Twitter, sorry I didn’t realise the link wouldn’t work without subscription.
If you do have Twitter, search for @darren_levin and the link works through his very recent tweet.

Yeah, I read the same story by the same author in The Courier Mail here in Queensland. Honestly, I think the article is tongue-in-cheek and not meant to be taken seriously. The offended tone quickly gives way to humour. Gist of story: the dude wants to ban speedos because he's traumatised by seeing his own dad in speedos in the 80s!

It must have been published in all the major papers because I originally saw it in The Advertiser, here in Adelaide. I do think the article is partly tongue in cheek and I did find it quite humorous! It’s a shame the link didn’t work from here because via Twitter the online version can be read.blueflinch wrote:Yeah, I read the same story by the same author in The Courier Mail here in Queensland. Australian media just does clickbait now.
Next week they will be back to making articles about butthole sunning.

Should Speedos Be Banned?!
So men can’t wear swim briefs, Speedos, budgy smugglers. Yet it’s ok for women to walk about like this. Who wants to see a woman’s vagina like this at the beach.

Regardless of physique why can’t we wear what we want.
But it’s ok for men to show off a bulge in wet swim shorts.
I have one thing to say “BOLLOCKS to them all”.

Re: Should Speedos Be Banned?!
Quite humorous. But serious in places too. Apparently, he doesn't want to see the outline of men's bits when he takes the kids to the beach. I think that's just silly. An outline of bits isn't going to hurt anyone and you can see that in ordinary shorts too. His view is a bit immature really. Why is he staring at men's bits in the first place? Is he a pervert?SthOzGuy81 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 2:36 pmIt must have been published in all the major papers because I originally saw it in The Advertiser, here in Adelaide. Having said that, Scott Morrison looks AWFUL in his speedos. Tony Abbot at least looked fit.
Re: Should Speedos Be Banned?!
He looks the same as he would in shorts though.blueflinch wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 2:38 pmHaving said that, Scott Morrison looks AWFUL in his speedos. Tony Abbot at least looked fit.
Don't blame the Speedos.

I like to see cameltoe on the gals, just like I enjoy seeing bulges on the guys! I think it all looks great!

Re: Should Speedos Be Banned?!
Well, I think we need to be mindful that women have long suffered horrible body image standards at the hands of men and patriarchy, so it's great that they're more open and free to express themselves, their bodies, and their sexuality in this day and age. That being said, patriarchy and masculinity standards and norms operate beyond one's gender. Unless we (male speedo and thong users alike) continue to assert our body-positive choices in responsible and respectful ways, we will continue to encounter resistance and "double-standards." I'm almost sure there are FAR more males (and females, for that matter) that want to express themselves and their bodies at the beach. It's just a matter of making these people feel comfortable, welcomed, and to some degree, celebrated.

I agree with you, mate. But the PM's recent outing in speedos is one of the reasons speedos are in the news. A few years back, Morrison was snapped in square-cut speedos and he actually looked all right in them. Maybe he's just fashion-impaired?

Re: Should Speedos Be Banned?!
I have mixed feelings about the way modern girls dress. Take Kim Kardashian, for example. She doesn't actually EVER seem to wear real clothes - just odd combinations of lingerie and skin-tight, camel-toe-baring pants. I'm sure the straight guys love it, and she's a beautiful woman to be sure. However, I don't think non-celebrities are allowed to go around looking like that. And it wouldn't be all that practical in the workplace ...hawaiispeedo808 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 6:39 pmWell, I think we need to be mindful that women have long suffered horrible body image standards at the hands of men and patriarchy, so it's great that they're more open and free to express themselves, their bodies, and their sexuality in this day and age.
I think there must be some compromise between "sexy" and "inappropriate". Where that line is I don't know ... Celebrities and very attractive people, of course, push the envelope, which the rest of us mere mortals cannot.
Re: Should Speedos Be Banned?!
I’m a straight man but I don’t think Kim Kardashian is good looking. Mostly due to her oversized fake butt. I realize it’s all the rage but I don’t understand in the least what women or men find attractive about an oversized butt on a woman or a man for that matter. Yet it seems that every woman posting fitness photos is trying to show off her big butt. To me beauty is in symmetry and proportions. Anything out of proportion looks out of place whether that be butts or breasts or biceps.blueflinch wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 8:49 pm
