I can't say this happened to me and I live in South Florida! Granted, my suits don't come from the stores rather online. I can't say I'm interested in getting hit on by dad bods either, lol.
25 years ago, before things shifted to e-sales, Miami/FTL had all sorts of specialty shops with speedos. There were a couple on Lincoln Road, two or three on Las Olas, and also in that shopping center east of the 17th ST bridge, a store run by someone from Canada. He sold mostly speedos, but also a few Arena and other suits. I read a little French, and I was thumbing through a magazine for French Canadian tourists a few years ago that had an article in French about how young Canadians didn't want to wear speedos like their fathers did. The handwriting was on the wall.

 I would have found it disturbing, but I only realized it when he unlocked the door. After that it did give me pause. I guess people here are more adventurous than we are. Or I lead a sheltered life. That's it, I lead a sheltered life. It was also twenty-five years ago when I was younger. Today, they'd probably lock me out, not in.
Well, you're still with us in one piece. All's well that ends well, right?

Yes. Chalk it up to experience. 8) One thing I do miss is all the shops in Fort Lauderdale and Miami that sold brief suits. They were high mark-up items for tourist-oriented stores. In Boston, were I'm from originally, there was a really good speedo shop that sold a variety of brands, including the Spanish Meyba line of suits. Designed more for resort wear than doing laps, they lacked a draw string. The European lycra was very light and silky. Pefect anatomical cut, they were like wearing nothing at all. I never wore mine swimming, because I wanted to preserve it. Meyba makes mainly soccer shirts, shorts, and shoes. The only suits I've seen are board shorts.
