Swim Shorts Getting Shorter
Just a quick topic.
Has anyone noticed that swim shorts are finally getting shorter for men?
I know these aren’t Speedos, but surely it is a step in the right direction.
Let’s hope the trend continues.

That is a trend I see as well.
Re: Swim Shorts Getting Shorter
Yes, they have been getting shorter, but seems like only in the high end stores, not in your local surf shop where board shorts are all that are available. The expensive mens shops have been harking back to the 1950's look. Think Sean Connery in James Bond movies.

Hi Matt, Adidas have got some shorter swim shorts on their website. I have about 5-6 pairs and they are short . Also Ellesse, Kappa, SilkSilk and others are all jumping on the band wagon.mattji01 wrote:Yes, they have been getting shorter, but seems like only in the high end stores, not in your local surf shop where board shorts are all that are available. I have included some links if anyone is interested.

Re: Swim Shorts Getting Shorter
Yeah, I had picked up a pair of Modus Vivendi shorts from International Jock a while back that are actually made of a spandex blend like swim briefs, but they are loose fitting and shaped like shorts. They are not very long, they are sold as swim trunks, and come with a lining in them.
Of course, I cut the lining out of them, and now when I wear them without anything underneath, it is almost like wearing nothing at all! However, I typically use them as a cover when I want to have something a bit more discrete than my KoalaSwim suits.
I know they get noticed from time to time. My wife was actually sitting at the bar with another gal. When I came walking up to the bar the other gal said, "hey, check out Mr. Short-shorts!" to my wife. LoL!!! My wife said, "Yeah, that's my husband!" The other gal replied, "Nice. Good job, girl!" The whole situation made me laugh and it made my wife proud to claim me.

Speedoaddicted, thanks for the web links. Yep, I'd wear some of those (the shorter ones).
Something I have always noticed is that manufacturers still put an elasticated band on their short shorts although there is also a draw string. They don't do this on the classic board shorts which just have a cord closing the front, no elastic and no draw string around the back. I would prefer this as the fit is loose around the waist and you get a nice bit of bum crack.
So a few years back I made my own. One pair with a clip (trying to be ahead of fashion) and the other with a cord. See attached.
Another issue with short shorts is that they need a pouch for your junk, otherwise you reveal a little more than just a bit more leg. This can be a shame if you like to swing free.

Great pics Matt. I like the orange and blue shorts. I have a pair of speedo shorts in a similar style.

Yes, I noticed it from Summer 12 months ago in Aus. In Aus boardies are usually knee length but a few brands have shortened them up, just looking at my Rip Curls now they are mid thigh. I'm lucky in that I get to travel a bit, and all of my swim shorts from Europe are mid thigh or rugby shorts length.

Re: Swim Shorts Getting Shorter
They’re getting better looking, yes, but I still dislike swim shorts that look excessively loose and baggy. I hate it when they balloon up with air in side when you sit over the bubble jets of a jacuzzi. I’m still searching for short, form fitting, all nylon swim shorts with an exposed tie string on the front, not overly loose around the thighs, and a smooth, clean looking waist band, not the crinkly elasticized kind.
But really though, speedos are so much better all the way around.

Board shorts are now being made with lycra or something so they stretch more easily. Because of that I was able to downsize. I visited a surfing museum here that showed pictures of guys surfing in board shorts in the sixties and seventies. They were SHORT....:::sam:::... wrote: ↑Wed Jan 16, 2019 7:01 amYes, I noticed it from Summer 12 months ago in Aus. Actually yeah, you're right. I hadn't thought about it. My Billabongs are stretchy.

Amazing. First time I've seen Koalas outside of the catalog. They look even smaller.MrMusik wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 1:28 pmOf course... I posted a couple pix when I made my Hi! I'm new here! post.
