Speedo Sunday @ Tybee Island, GA beach

Post by rmf » Mon Jul 23, 2018 1:40 pm

Anyone attend Speedo Sunday at Tybee Island, GA yesterday? It usually happens on or about July 22 for the past few years....

I never attended and don't know much about it which is why I was asking.... I stumbled upon hearing about it this past weekend at a friend's party.

There is some limited info out there if you search for it... #speedosunday is a good place to start...

I did a quick search. It was started by a bartender and manager of The Grey bar in Savanna, GA for his boyfriend's birthday. Scott Waldrup, who organized it, was a swimmer and diver in his youth so the speedo event was like an homage to that. Since the first Speedo Sunday it just became a thing he organized. Scott was killed as a bystander during a car chase, so since 2017 Speedo Sunday has happened without him.
