What is it about speedos?

We all agree that we love speedos, that's why we're on here. What is it specifically that you love about them? Here's what I love about them in order:

Appearance - I love how they cling to my body and accentuate my man parts.
Comfort - The stretchy lycra or nylon is a wonderful feeling on your skin.
Attitude - When I wear speedos, I feel sexy and daring.
Practicality - Freedom of movement in and out of the water, great tanlines.
Self expression - When I wear speedos, I feel empowered, confident and unique.

It's very hard to rate all of these feelings on a scale because they're all important to me.

I love tight, brief, well fitted speedos. I don't like unintentionally loose fitting speedos. "Loose fit" Aussiebums are fine because they fit right at the waist, and especially, the ass. They're just intentionally baggy around the junk, which is ok. So that being said, what I look for is:

Skin tight
Hidden draw string, so they can be tied on LOW and TIGHT on your hips and they won't slip off when you dive.
Small side measurements, max 1.25 inches usually, but up to two inches is ok.
Super smooth hugging of the ass, and not rising any higher in back than the top of the butt crack.
Complete exposure of the thighs, but not riding up high on the hips.
I prefer solid colors, especially black. White, brown, dark or light blue, dark burgundy, or dark green are also great.

A nicely cut, brief speedo, situated properly on the wearer is an amazing thing.

I love the way they look (not on me lol) but on others, the feel of the material against my skin, how you can wear them as underwear, support for your junk when in the gym, I here people actually have gone swimming in them (each to their own) and how practical they are.
I wear mine in the summer under a pair of shorts. I find my junk breaths better in them than in cotton underwear. Nothing worse than Betty swollocks(sweaty bollocks lol). Different styles, colours they are fantastic.

I agree with everything which has been said except the following.

1. I prefer multiple colors and patterns over solid colors. However most of mine are solid colors since Sporti Euros only come in solid colors.

2. I don't wear them as underwear. I prefer loose fitting boxers for every day use or a good contour pouch cotton brief when I want support in the gym.

I will add that lap swimming is much better in a speedo. It just doesn't make any sense to wear anything but a speedo when lap swimming.

I also wear speedos because they don't ballon up in a jetted tub.

I will admit that I occasionally wear Funky Trunks jammers. They aren't nearly as comfortable as a speedo but I think the really low waist and tight fit make them look really hot.

Good summary shadowmn. I think it's twofold:

1. They're comfortable and functional. I don't like wearing a lot of excess clothing, but I also wouldn't want to be flopping around naked most of the time. The material feels good, keeps everything in place, and still gives a feeling of freedom, fun, and sun.

2. I think guys are beautiful, and there's no better clothing than a standard speedo to show off a masculine physique without being overtly sexual or vulgar.

The support, fabric sensation, and colour range

(1) More comfortable than board shorts in the water and out of the water.

(2) Small and dry quickly, so you're not lugging a bag of wet clothes home in backpack.

(3) Sex appeal - I enjoy looking at male bodies, the more skin the better.

1. Feels better then board shorts, especially in the water.
2. The tight fit and the shiny material look very sexy.
3. The idea that everybody can see your masculine shape, makes me feel sexy.
