Re: UK import duty
Unfortunately the same applies.
I have been stung a few time when I have bought from sites in Australia and the USA.
I thought it was on goods with a value £15+ and gifts with a value of £39+.
If you can find a company in the UK who stocks what you need do a comparison.
Sometimes it is cheaper to Import even with the duty and £8 handling charge.
Plus some of the bits you get from abroad you can't get in the UK.
WELCOME TO RIPP OFF BRITAIN, the country that shafts its population.

Re: UK import duty
Had this problem too. I buy stuff from Aussiebum but only when it's on sale, so the stated value on the customs label is under £15. Some sellers (especially on ebay) will help out by understating the value. Like you say, it's not just import duty, but the admin fee - there's no way of avoiding it. Puts me off buying speedos from abroad - which is a shame, because there are some great suits out there. Also, find that many websites in the USA will not export to UK for some unexplained reason. Here's a pair I'd love to get, but way too expensive at $49 + postage + tax + admin fee...
Speedos - the only way to swim...
Re: UK import duty
Wow, that's steep. Here in the U.S. we don't do that....yet. But if our Congress ever here's of this, they just might.Speedoaddict wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 10:02 amUnfortunately the same applies.

They are kind of pricey when you add up all the extra charges...... Still, a beautiful vintage style suit.speedobillyuk wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2017 3:10 amHad this problem too.
