G'day, and time to stop lurking.
Hi Guys, I'm Danny, I'm 29 from the south of England, and I love speedos!
I grew up in the early 90s, when wearing a speedo was pretty normal, but somewhere around when I started swimming lessons everybody was wearing shorts. As a pre-teen, I was given some bulky shorts, and that was the end of speedos, except for under a wetsuit. It was never quite the same, I hated the heavy, damp material, but I was young, awkward and desperate to fit in - and I all but stopped swimming to get away from it.
Then, I'm my late teens, I started to understand my lack of confidence was actually a lack of understanding of my sexuality. Once I'd grasped that and stopped trying to hide it, I started to grow in confidence and one day I went for it - and wore speedos to the beach with friends (but that's a story for another time).
After a set back, I slipped again at University, and only went swimming in those nasty, baggy shorts.
Then, I discovered square cuts, and I've worn them exclusively for the last few years. They provided a happy medium between my broken confidence, and desire to wear speedos. I've since rocked my square cuts at the public pool, a water park in Tenerife, many cruise ship pools, and beaches in Spain, Lanzarote, the Bahamas, and Sint Maarten.
Late last year, I decided to get back to brief suits (and show off some of my collection!); I joined a local health club because it had a quiet pool and proper changing rooms (not one of those awful changing villages that are so popular around this part of the country).
I'm still not quite there, but did manage to reveal the briefs a couple of times recently.
Anyway, I sense that I'm rambling... I'm glad to have stopped lurking, and can't wait to become part of the group.

Welcome! Congratulations on making progress on being comfortable with your true self and for embracing your love for speedos! And we all feel the same way you do about those god awful long and heavy swim shorts.

Hi Dannyboi, welcome. Nice to hear from you. Love the avatar picture. When I was at primary school and then 2 years in secondary school in the mid to late 80's it was alway Speedos. But know I have put weight on and I am a lot older I wear Speedos under swim shorts. Mainly a self image and confidence problem. I would love to wear speedos to the pool. You have more confidence than me. Look forward to seeing more pics of you.
