Encouraging, although the articles are 2-3 years old.

I like the fact that they seem to be more acceptable in the US these days. Guys do seem to be wearing shorter suits and square cuts more, no longer afraid to admit they have thighs.

Yes, I am seeing that, too. It's encouraging, and it's about god damned time. Slowly coming out of the dark ages.

More evidence that briefer swimwear is going mainstream, and becoming more acceptable. This is a scanned page from this week's Macy's newspaper advertising insert:

This is about as mainstream as it gets, and therefore, it is fucking fantastically good news.

It is about time they banned board shorts for swimming, they hold the water and make it difficult to swim in. The speedo has always been and is the way to swim, get a great tan and by looking at some of the avatars on this forum fucking look good. The only reason the speedo has this stigma of being out of fashion and favour is because of small minded people who think (please no hate comments) if you wear them you are gay and some women think they are not suitable so there boyfriends and husbands to wear. I couldn't give a shit about your sexual preference. I see the person (and the speedo lol) and that's it. It's not just mens attitudes but women's attitudes that need to change towards the Speedo. If it is acceptable in European countries like France, Germany, Switzeralnd and Austria for and the home of the speedo Australia for example then why not every wear else. The U.K. to a large degree seems to have a bit of a stigma to the Speedo, square cut swimwear not so much. Board shorts at the local swimming pool seem to be dissapearing (hooray). When I was a kid (early 80's) it was what everyone one wore. I miss the 80's.

Have a look at this link, these have a good selection on swimwear for men and the speedo.

That's great news! And I so agree with speedo addict. Not only men's attitude need to change towards speedo but also womens. Cause essentially men want to impress women so when women disapprove of course men won't do it.

Thanks for posting this Diveguy. I've ordered a pair of those grey Speedo Solars as they now ship to the UK and they look awesome. Not available locally here. Should be clearing customs in a day or two.

I happened to see this week's Target sale paper... Brief and squarecut shown right alongside the trunks (with shorter inseam) and boardshorts.

Looking very closely, it says "target.com only," but it is definitely nice to see a major store like Target advertise briefs in their print ad. Next step will be for them to actually stock briefs in their store.

It's definitely a positive sign when a speedo is advertised in print ads. All the more reason for us to wear our speedos proudly. We are the ones who will set the stage for a speedo comeback, not the fashion industry. Supply and demand!

This is pretty awesome news. I'm a big supporter of target for their stance on LGBT equality and acceptance.

Target has been selling swim briefs online for the past two years at least, this being the third summer I've seen them available. Definitely a step forward and will be even more so when they take them to the stores!

Other retailers offer swim briefs online, too. Kohls and Macys for example both sell them online. It'll really be something when any of them stock swim briefs in a physical store.

But that Target ad was the first time I have seen a retailer apart from Dunhams/MC Sports/Dicks advertise swim briefs in a print ad.
