Need some advixe

Post by Thongdude2025 » Tue May 16, 2017 12:18 pm

Taking a trip with my gf next month to a friends place. They live in the country, have a nice deck/pool
So I'm Sure we'll be spending a decent amount of time outside. Figured I could speedo in "public" there lol. Have a few suits but don't really like any of them and one idk about in public. I'm basically the "dude next door. Not ripped, hairy legs/chest. Looking for suggestions on a brief or squarecut to look at. Thinking about one of these but open to suggestions. I'd be happy to post the pics I have but unsure of how to do it from my phone.

These are a few I'm considering
Blue or black https://swimoutlet.com/p/roka-sports-me ... olor=54196
Unsure on color https://swimoutlet.com/p/roka-sports-me ... olor=46138
Leaning towards the black/blue https://swimoutlet.com/p/aqua-sphere-me ... olor=14702

Hi Thongdude,

Have you ever considered these brands of swimwear.

I have a Nike square cut suit that I bought a few years ago on kohls.com and really like. I can't seem to find the same one with a quick search, but if I find a link I'll let you know. What I really like about it is that it seems to be designed with the casual swimmer/beachgoer in mind, rather than the hardcore competitor - it even has a small zippered pocket that is well hidden. It's incredibly comfortable as well.
I've honestly never heard of the brands that you've linked to, but they definitely look cool. I've had good experiences with swimoutlet.com as well.

Thanks for the suggestions and links :) Think I want to find something a little more conservative though. What about the Brazilian sunga trunks? Any suggestions on US retailers?

I do have a few pictures I could post but unsure how to put them on here from my phone

Hi Mazda,

I have a pair of Budgy Smugglers Briefs with cricket balls on them, got a pair of striped Funky trunks briefs and American Flag Turbo Briefs.
Never heard of sluggers will give them a look.

Thongdude
Sorry I didn't answer your question but Square Leg Trunk Swimwear isn't really my preference but I would go with the the first selection.

Here's a link to the closest thing I can find to the Nike suit I was talking about. It looks like the style I have isn't available anymore, unfortunately.

As far as posting pics, have you tried the Tapatalk app? It's an easy way to do it without having to upload your pics to a hosting service like photobucket.

Ok, here's a few of me in suits I have. First 2 are a n2n suit (idk about it in public with the bulge pouch). Dolphin swim brief and a sporti squarecut from swimoutlet

I don't feel the brief of squarecut are too flattering (.maybe it's the print)

The pictures come up fine for me, but I'm also using the app. As for your three suits, I generally like colors and prints. But there's something very appealing about the simplicity of the black ones with the red trim around the waist. They say to me "I'm confident yet conservative." They seem more refined and luxe to me. The last one (jammer style) is too long in my opinion.

As for Brazilian sungas, when I was in Rio several years ago, I bought a couple from a local company, Taco, and they were pretty cheap. Not sure if they're still around or if they sell online, but they're a great cut and what all of the Brazilian guys were wearing on the beach. I wore the black one several times along with a small Aussiebum square cut. I didn't realize the red were still brand new!!

I'll see if I can find those online :)
Sungas style might look better on me than that brief, assuming they will sit similar to the n2n suit in my first 2 pics

I guess its ultimately up to you, and what you'd feel comfortable wearing. If you want to be less conspicuous, I'd go with the second one. I personally like the look of the last two the best. I don't think you'll go wrong with most of these. Just my opinion. :)

I figured I would pick up a few with Amazon prime :) definitely will get the second one. 1 and 4 kinda torn between... I really like the green but the red and black is a little more conservative

Probably won't be able to decide and end up ordering three or four suits lol. I appreciate all the help with this, I obviously don't have the perfect speedo body but I still enjoy them, and I'm sure she will too!

Here is another opinion (or a way) to look at it.... Consider your company or who you will be spending the time with while swimming. Go with the style that you will be comfortable wearing in front of your friends. I think that is the most important thing here. And I think you already know the general consensus that square leg is more 'conservative' than a 'brief' and personally, I think black or dark blue is more conservative than any bright colors or patterns. It just draws less attention to the issue if a person has one. Personally, I think square leg suits are a great stepping stone to wearing briefs in public for anyone who has any sort of hesitation of feeling exposure, embarrassed, insecure or hasn't grown up wearing them....just my opinion...

If you're looking for a sporty conservative suit, the Speedo Shoreline is a very good choice. I have one and my wife loves it. She's not much a brief/bikini fan, but likes the squarecut suits alot.
