New here and love speedos

Post by BJE » Thu Apr 13, 2017 9:15 pm

I started wearing speedos as a late teenager but only for lap swimming and hot tubs. Not around the general public. After getting married I bought more of them and started wearing them more often at hotels and resorts etc. but not at local pools except for lap swimming. I have only ever worn speedos for lap swimming until recent years when I've started wearing jammers sometimes.

Where I live you NEVER see a man in a speedo except for lap swimmers were it is common, except jammers have sort of taken over. I don't think I have in my entire life seen a man in a speedo at a local pool during general swim times or at a local water park. I have worn them at these places but have felt quite conspicuous being the only man there wearing one. I have also worn them at lakes. They are great for wearing under a wet suit. I can't picture why anyone would wear bulky swim trunks under a wet suit.

I mostly don't like wearing a speedo around children because they will inevitably point and laugh. Adults might laugh on the inside but they at least have the decency to be polite.

A little over a year ago I joined a health club which has an indoor lap pool and workout pool as well as an outdoor pool and hot tub. I've worn both speedos and jammers at this place but mostly jammers to not feel conspicuous. However I've been taking an adult swim conditioning class to improve my swim technique and have been wearing my skimpiest speedos (they are all about an inch and a half on the side) and have not felt the least bit conspicuous since I'm not the only one wearing one. I think wearing a speedo while swimming makes you look professional. After the class I've hung out at the hot tub in my speedo without feeling conspicuous in any way.

This swim class has emboldened me to start wearing a speedo all the time at the club pools rather than jammers or trunks. I figure I look good in a speedo and have the body for it so if others think I'm weird that's their problem. At any rate I really don't like doing pool workouts in jammers because leg motions pull the crotch cloth around and tend to crush my balls. I like the freedom of movement I get from legless swimwear.

It's interesting that I can walk around naked in the locker room without drawing attention but when I put on a speedo men notice.

Also in my swim class many of the women wear "real" swim suits. The sort made for racing which do not have padded cups and allow nipples to show through. I figure if they can allow their nipple contour to show through I shouldn't worry about my penis shape showing. I'm just trying to figure out what penis position looks best. The Sporti suits I've been wearing compress my package into an undefined bulge when mympenis is pointing down. I sort of like having my penis laying over to the side to indicate I have a penis as well as balls. I'll add that you have to have balls to wear a speedo!

Welcome, and you look great in your avitar, hope more pics are coming. Good for you in wearing what you are comfortable in. And as for wearing speeds around kids, I wear mine in front of my kids, and have worn them to beaches often with kids around, they seem to be the least judgemental unless their parents have taught them speedos are weird. At least that is my experience.

Around here I suspect when a child sees me in a speedo it's the first time they've ever seen a man in a speedo.

I agree. That is a very true statement. You belong in a speedo.

Yea, that depends where you live.... I was surprised to see how many guys were briefs to swim & practice at one of the private summer pools we have in our area. It's a neighborhood private membership pool and there are always dedicated lap lanes for adults. It's just not uncommon which I thought was different the first time I went to the pool. It's the upper midwest and swimming & local swim teams are pretty big in the summer. I think partly it is because people in this area who are into sports & fitness are really into it.. meaning, they have the right gear for the right sport.

Like I said in my post, it's common to see men in speedos lap swimming. It's the non lap swimming/family time that you don't see speedos. I think speedos are proper swim gear so it's totally natural for real swimmers to wear speedos.

Welcome to our group, BJE! I love your introductory post, and I like how you think. You have no reason at all not to wear a speedo, your body is made for one. But I agree about having second thoughts about wearing them around children, in our society at least. In Italy, go for it, it's part of the culture. But here, as much as I love speedos (the skimpier the better), I would feel uncomfortable wearing them around family or places where there's a ton of kids in casual situations. During serious, lap swimming time, even with kids around... sure, go for it. At a water park... um, maybe not. As much as I love the idea of sliding down one of those mega-slides wearing only a speedo, or riding down the lazy river on an inner tube, I'd probably not. But that's just me.

But again, welcome, and thanks for joining!

In the end I think you have the right attitude. For me I have a don't care attitude where I run in speedos to swim in them. For some of my friends if they see me in regular shorts now they think I am depress.

But sometimes you have to accept yourself as the odd man out

You have an awesome body. You definitively look good in a speedo. I would even say 'amazing'.

That really is an interesting observation, and very true.
