My conversation with my brother in-law about me wearing speedos was hilarious.

He said to me 'You wear Speedos sometimes don't you?"

And I said "Yep."

And he said "Yep."

And that was that, and it was fine. I had a good chuckle afterwards...

52dno98 wrote:I can report back from a week in Destin, Florida, that you'll almost certainly be the lone speedo on the beach. It wasn't particularly crowded early in the week, but Friday picked up and Saturday was just insane. SO many people on the beach.

I saw one guy in a speedo- he wore a different suit on Friday and Saturday. Probably 50-ish, thin. An hour or two after I saw him Friday I heard some fat redneck ladies talking about him. "Naw, Ruth Anne... It said 'Speedo' on his butt!" And they cackled.

I didn't work up the courage to wear a speedo on the beach- I joked with my wife that I was going to, putting on a 3" suit as we were getting ready, "NOW I'm ready for the beach!" and she said, "dear, I can see which way your weiner is pointing" and that was the end of that.

I saw so many disgusting fat people on the beach yesterday, with fat bellies hanging out and gross tattoos and cottage cheese for thighs. Then there was only one speedo- something WAY less gross to look at. This country is so effed up. It was really disheartening. Ok. Rant over. :)
We were down there at the same time but about 20 mins south of Destin. First day I saw one guy in a square leg. Other than that, there was no one. I was the only one wearing briefs and I wore them 6 days straight. Had some longer looks by people but nothing obvious except for one. A younger couple - no kids, mid 20's - together made a few comments while looking over my way over a period of a few days. I think the guy snapchatted or texted a picture of me (He was obvious about it & I could tell by the finger swipes he used on his phone) on the second or third day of us there. Creepy really, he took a picture of me & my kids under the umbrella. There was absolutely no reason for him to point his phone my way & work his screen since we were behind him and then just sand dunes (no view). I was with my wife & kids the entire time and my son was wearing them too. When it happened, I turned to my wife and said, I think that guy just took a picture of me. She agreed and said a few negative comments about the guy's appearance.

Considering that area of Florida, it's pretty much what I expected. But to agree with you, there were some real winners at the beach in that part of Florida. My wife would never ever let me get to that point in size, let alone I would let myself look how some of those folks did.

Frank, I think I can say that I will not bring other suits besides square cuts and briefs. With that said I will bring exercise shorts to wear over the suits when not getting wet or maybe walking to and from the beach. Frank I understand that it is best to be who you are and surround yourself with people who are positive, but I think family is family and we are trying to include my father in law in our lives. I don't see a situation where he will flat out refuse to be there until I "dress appropriately" but if I get the vibe that they are VERY VERY VERY uncomfortable I will be more discreet about when I step down to briefs.

I have been going to the emerald coast of FL since I was a kid; I am not under some grand illusion that the beach will have many if any guys in these types of suits.
I used to be a little concerned about people taking pictures and/or laughing and making jokes to each other.
I know that when you are in public, you have no legal right to privacy. People are constitutionally allowed to film or take pictures. I understand this is always a possibility. My solution is generally to wear sunglasses and a hat. There is nothing I can or should do about it. As far as people talking or making jokes I have come to accept it. Do I agree with it? no. However in much the same way that my freedom gives me the opportunity to wear what I choose, it gives other people the freedom to say what they want. I am not talking about verbally harassing me, but speaking or joking with each other.

I agree that if I do see people talking, joking, it taking pictures they will most likely be out of shape, timid, small minded men and women who would be afraid or too uncomfortable in their own skin to wear something like I am wearing.
I guess now, I just have to get some ideas together for when the inevitable "why do you wear those" question comes from her father or step mother.
What I've got so far, is "I like them" "your daughter likes me to wear then" and that's about it. ;-)
Thanks to everyone for their participation comments and past experiences.
PS. This is the last suit I bought. My girlfriend told me she likes the JOR swim briefs I have the most, so I bought one of their square cuts.

If/when they ask you, just reply "why wouldn't I?" And make them feel like their the odd ones wearing the wrong suit. Then if/when they start into how it's not normal, explain the practicality of them.
•Fast drying
•No odd tan lines
•More comfortable
•Don't have to change. Can go straight from shorts into water, then back out to do things, never having to change to trunks and back or have to carry around an extra suit
•Less space in your luggage and doubles as underwear
•More hygienic (according to the French pool signs, but I don't truly understand why that is)
•Motivates you to keep a healthy lifestyle and stay fit
•No air bubbles when getting into a pool like trunks do and you don't look like you're passing gas, haha

Hope this helps!

Good one Chicago!
Btw I think the French idea is that it is most likely that speedos are clean because they are just put on to go swimming whereas if the swimmer is wearing long shorts they may have worn them all day, to walk the dog, sweep the yard etc

Double thanks Scottie! Didn't think about them being worn as shorts. I guess because I was factoring speedos being worn as underwear to be convenient and not having to run to a hotel room to change before/after swimming.

That shit you guys got from other beach goers just for wearing your speedos is very disheartening. If I ever visit the beach in Florida, I think I'll stick to South Beach and others in the Southern part, or maybe the Keys. Hopefully speedos are less scorned in those locations.

For me, it wasn't a big deal. Sorry if I made it out any other way. I have/had such low expectations in general ( for the 30a area) that I was not in the least disappointed. The dude could have taken all the pictures he wanted.... It just shows how much of a buffoon he is/was. I know the area well and it is really just that.... They don't call that area Redneck Riviera for nothing.

The main thing that is very different (or maybe important) for me is that my wife is 100℅ on board with me wearing briefs or sq leg suits. Her rule is that I can't wear shorts longer get than 5" and they can't be baggy. After we married, she made me get rid of all my board shorts (I surf by the way). She said they made me look shorter, which I am already, and too much of an old guy dressing like a teen...and I was in my 30's at the time. She also pushes me to wear fitted clothes to show my build and speedos fit that look. So at the end of the day, a stranger can say/look all he wants and it doesn't bother me because night, they are not the one sleeping next to me. I know I am lucky in a way and appreciate it.

Her father and step mother will be staying with us for three or four days of our week long trip.
I have recently made the conversion to wearing swim briefs almost all the time, but I am having second thoughts about wearing it front of the in laws.
A few points: 1) Her father and step mother are both from a small town in Texas, and I would certainly be the first person to be with them in a speedo.
2) Part of me wants to wear it more in front of the step mother because I imagine her reaction will be that of disgust and she has been a real BITCH to my girlfriend throughout their relationship. 3) her father is a LARGE man who probably won't take off his shirt. 4) I have paid for the rental 100%
I guess that's about it. Just looking for any advice from anyone else who has been in these shoes in the past our words of wisdom on the subject.
Thanks
First, you paid of the rental .. so for the duration of the trip this is your "home from home" and you really should be able to relax and do what YOU want. But I would not wear it to deliberately intimidate, just wear it because it's what you normally do. If your in-laws are shocked by it, well perhaps it's time they grew up a little. Do they have an issue with your girlfriend in a bikini or tight 1-piece suit? Then they should not have an issue with you. Beware anyone who uses phrases such as "not decent" .. remember there was a time when mens nipples and (really) girls ankles were equally "not decent" to be seen in public. People should spend less time getting hang-ups over such minor things as which bits of a body they can see.

So the in laws have come and gone. They only stayed for a couple days and I was only in swimwear for one of the days. I wore a pair of the Desmitt square cut suits. Just pulled off my shorts and into the pool I went. They didn't comment at all about them. The step mom kept her distance from me in the pool though. Lol. Her father and i stayed up for about 3 hours after everybody else went to sleep and he never brought it up. I'm not sure if my choice of swimwear was a factor in them leaving and going back home so quickly. That will take further investigation from my girlfriend. (It is a two day drive for them to get home)
Since then I've ditched the square cuts for swim briefs. I think of they would have stayed I would have tried the swim briefs in front of them.
I didn't snap a picture of the suit I wore in front of them, but did take one of the suit I wore the next day. I really love the JOR swim briefs. The pouch make them VERY comfortable to wear all day

FIFA_D I think that wearing some small spandex square cuts shorts is a great solution. You also look fit in whatever you wear, so I'd wear the square cuts like you showed when laying out or in the pool, but when walking to the pool/beach, i would cover up.
Love speedos and spandex almost as much as I love cocks shooting cum.

My first time wearing a speedo in public since getting back into them was in front of my in-laws. They own an amazing ocean front home, and it's become a tradition to spend the post-Christmas holiday there. My sister-in-law's family comes too, so the whole family is together.

We packed the evening before the trip. As I was putting my swim shorts into our bag, my wife said, "I thought you were going to wear the new bikini I bought you for Christmas." I'd assumed it had been a joke gift, but she was quite serious. I retrieved the speedo. "You won't be needing these," she said with a grin on her face as she handed me the shorts and took the briefs from me.

I was a little nervous our first day at the beach. In past years we've dressed in swimwear in the morning. With the beach right outside, it didn't make sense to wear other clothes. Without my shorts as a fallback, however, I was going to be spending all day in the speedo.

My wife got out of bed first and went to the bathroom. I used the bathroom when she was finished. When I came back into the bedroom, she was putting on her bikini. She'd put my speedo on the bed. We sleep naked, so all I had to do was slip it on, tie the drawstring, and I was dressed.

We got the kids up, then went out to the deck. My mother-in-law had already started breakfast. I sat down at the table, hoping to avoid attention. Eventually we were joined by the rest of the family and had breakfast.

When breakfast was over, the kids went down the the beach. My wife and her sister started to clean up. Her sister's husband got up to help. I did the same, feeling completely exposed in the tiny brief.

No one mentioned my swimsuit as we cleaned the dishes. We went back out to the deck and joined my in-laws in the lounge chairs. For a little while we just sat and watched our kids down by the water.

My sister-in-law glanced over at me a couple of times. Finally she said, "Okay, I have to ask. What's the deal with speedo?"

"You sister got it for me," was all I could think to say.

My wife stepped in a told them what had happened at Thanksgiving. She ended by saying, "I just thought he looked so adorable in his little bikini, I'd get him a new one."

"I wasn't going to wear it, but she insisted," I said almost defensively.

"Well, I think it's cute," said my mother-in-law. "Clings in all the right places," she joked.

"Mom!" said my sister-in-law laughing.

"What? I can't appreciate the view?" my mother-in-law replied. The women all laughed.

From then on, I didn't feel nervous about wearing the speedo any more. It was practically all I wore for the next few days.

The day before our trip ended, the women went shopping. When they came back, they said they had a surprise. They'd bought speedos for my father-in-law and brother-in-law. After a bit of encouragement, they put them on.

Our last day there, the three of us wore our speedos out at the beach. It was a great feeling.

Definitely a great story. Now you won’t ever have to worry about wearing it front of them. It’s the new norm. Congrats!
Just a straight guy that enjoys wearing speedos. Life is too short, enjoy wearing what you want.
