Remembering my first public speedo use.

I was chatting with a guy from Sweden this morning, and it made me remember the first time I wore a speedo in public. I was on a business trip to Sweden. One of the days I was there, I spent it with someone from the office's family. He took his younger children & I to take a swim in a Fjord. At that time at home, I think that I was wearing a speedo under a swim suit. When I packed for the trip, I decided that I would only bring the speedo. We all changed in to our suits at the fjord, jumped in, and immediately got back out. Change out of our suits, and went back to his house for Swedish meatballs. So was probably in the speedo for a total of 5 minutes...

After that, it took 25 years, weight gain, weight loss, bigger weight gain, and bigger weight loss before I swam in a speedo again. I hope to have many more opportunities to swim in what guys should wear...

Ha, great story! What kind of suits did your Swedish friends wear?

I've told my story here several times, but my first time wearing a Speedo in public was my first time wearing one at all (other than trying it on for the first time at the store when purchasing one, and then wearing it in the apartment later that night and staring at myself in the mirror). This was while I was doing work in Hawaii. I just really yearned for a much smaller, more form fitting suit than the trunks I had. I had been doing some snorkeling and was no doubt going to be doing a lot more for the next year or so, including experimenting with somewhat deeper breath held diving, and I just couldn't stand the thought of wearing trunks for that. I went to the store and looked at some pairs of square cuts and even those smaller swim shorts with the slit sides, thinking that would be a good "starter" type of introduction into the world of smaller swimsuits. But the little Speedo briefs hanging on the pegs kept nagging at me and I knew if I bought anything other than a true Speedo, I'd just be unhappy and disappointed. So I forced myself to try on some Speedos and ultimately, I went all the way and purchased the smallest they had, the actual kind of suit I always lusted after, a small black Speedo with true 1" sides.

I was so excited, happy, terrified, all at the same time. The next day, I went to the beach with my snorkel gear. I had it on under my regular swim trunks. It took forever for me to get up enough nerve to pull off my trunks and just wear my speedo, sitting on my towel on the sand. Then it took forever again for me to get up enough nerve to get up, grab my mask and fins, and walk down to the water and go snorkeling. But I did, and it felt simply amazing to be finally immersing my body in the warm water while wearing nothing but a Speedo, and snorkeling in it was incredible, especially how good it felt to be going underwater in it, and I'm so glad I allowed myself the pleasure of being a speedo wearer.

Thank you both for sharing your personal experiences! I was certainly there nine years ago in Miami, Florida (South Beach to be exact). A definite jump off moment in wearing a Speedo for the first time on the beach and the pool. I thank my lovely fiancée for her encouragement to make Miami represent a confidence booster!

For years, I always wanted to wear a Speedo since I was a teenager. Being raised in an ultra conservative household, it was near impossible of wearing one, and even having any sort of swim brief laying around. Just crazy!

I was in Malmö Sweden about 15 years ago and went to the beach in a black solar speedo. The. To the men's nude beach/ bath house. Very fun.
