I appreciate the compliment Mitch, but there is just no way on God's green earth I could ever wear those in public. And if I were to wear those at home my daughters would run for the hills and my wife would probably throw things at me when she came back to life after laughing herself to death.

That's just too bad, because you look great. I understand your dilemma. Although I just spent nearly 2 weeks with my wife on a cruise swimming in nothing but speedos, I don't think my wife or daughter would be OK with me wearing any speedo on our local beach...

Meh I used to worry, then realised it was only the usual moaners and whiners that cared and telling them politely to "do one" or asking them what their problem was, or "you don't have any room to talk you look like a whale / got dressed in the dark / ugly enough to scare ray charles etc...tended to shut them up post haste...

Thanks for the compliments guys. Unfortunately, I don't think that one's ever going to see the light of day on me. I've gained plenty of weight since then, and that suit is among several which my wife claims are "too gay"; she's just not as confident in my sexuality as I am. Apparently she frequently notices men checking me out, whom I never even notice. But I get where she's coming from.

Oh well, she doesn't mind seeing me in these suits in private. And I'm happy she finally came around to enjoying seeing me in any of them in public. At least she admits I look good in them, and even has a few favorites. And I've never received any negativity about them from others, even living in the southern US. I wish the rest of you the same luck.

I get the sentiment, I do. There is definitely a double standard when it comes to swimwear of men versus women, especially here in the US. Women, no matter their body type or fitness level, can wear a bikini and no one thinks twice about it. (Okay, sometimes we think twice about it...) But if a man wears a speedo, no matter what his body type or cut of the speedo, he is going to get some negative attention.

That said, I care more about my relationship with my family than my freedom to wear what I want. So if it makes them uncomfortable, I won't wear it. And beyond them, I am willing to defer to mothers and children who would rather not see or have their children exposed to bulge or vpl in a speedo, anymore than I would want my young son exposed to a very scantily clad woman.

I know standards and expectations vary around the world. Mitch, if I get to go to the Dominican Republic with you, you can bet that I will be wearing a speedo, and maybe even one of my smaller ones. And electric, if I get to go on a cruise, you can bet that I will be wearing speedos like you did. But in Sacramento, most people just don't wear speedos around, not even at the fitness center pool.

I believe there is a time and place for everything. A time to exercise one's rights, and a time to defer to others. A time to wear a really cool small speedo, and a time not to. (Insert song "turn, turn, turn, by the Byrds here)

So more power to you all, go with your convictions, and I'll go with mine.

It's good to know on this forum, speedos are always welcomed, encouraged, and admired.
Despite all our differences, that is something we can say we all have in common.

fair points from your POV, but does demonstrate for all the "land of the free" talk that conformity is more valued than many would think and that somehow certain people have created this idea that speedos are "inappropriate" or "not something kids should see" etc, when its them with the warped world view... (or that people should be embarrassed that their family member chooses to wear something other than a potato sack...seems also that men are starting to develop the same body image loathing that women torture themselves with....

Personally its a legal garment and as long as it covers what the law requires...people need to get over themselves...its 2016 not 1896...
As the UK highway code says "don't try to force others to drive to your standards, obey the law not your view of it" (or words to that effect)

Bullseye, the U.S. is a crazy mixed up place. My wife really doesn't like that things might be on display. But, on our recent trip, she relented because we would never see those people again. So what it comes down to, is that it's OK unless somebody we know sees me. I respect my wife & honor her wishes, but in the same light I'm sad because I can't wear what is comfortable...

Spain...its not an issue, make aspirations - you'd either get a look of bemusement (its his wife's handbag and he's being a gent in carrying it for her) or a knuckle sandwich for being rude...

I've worked in Spain for a summer...and some of the men are hairy enough to make you wonder if there is a gorilla in the family tree...one bloke I saw on the beach...you couldn't see his back as the hair was so thick...

On a side note, my mother doesn't understand gay people ("its a shame that he couldn't find a nice girl" or "A pity as she's such a pretty girl and any man would be interested" yeah I don't get that one either...) but hairy men make her cringe..so she's essentially looking for an straight non metro man without body hair....took a while for my brain to process that one...

My suit arrived today, only 7days from Taiwan to Scotland. Have only had a quick try on so far. I think I have ordered a larger size as it is not too tight but still sits low. The material is really shiny. Pics to follow when I get time and the house to myself!

Recently I bought some, too. I think they are very hot and look great. They're very skimpy but comfortable enough to be worn in public. I wore them in a public indoor-pool for swimming laps and nobody cared. But the fabric is not very approbriate to be used at a waterslide.

Ordered a pair of these. Shipped from China. Nothing like having to look your regular postal carrier square in the eye to sign for a tiny, tiny postal package clearly labelled "swim briefs". Not to mention my wife is looking over my shoulder repeatedly asking "what is it?" outside in the very echo-y, non-private breezeway of our condos.

So... they are snug. Everywhere. But comfortable enough. Very silky material. And stretchy. If you own a pair of c-in2 pouch briefs, these have about the same amount of pouch room, but with stretchier material. That being said, I think I could have used a medium instead of a small, although my 28" waist is within the suggested 28"-32" range for a small. I don't think I've got the guts to wear these in public though; we shall see. Vacation at adults-only resort in Cancun soon, so maybe with encouragement from the wife.
