Any suggestions for speedo friendly swimming in the Sacramento/Carmichael are? Prefer outdoor pools and sunning areas. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hey speedolover,

Haven't come across any that I know of. Even at my gym, speedos are rare.

Good luck in your search! Let me know if you find anything.

Thanks for the reply Bullseye.

I am disappointed to learn that there is really no good alternative in the area, but so be it.

Where do you go to swim in your speedos? You have shown some great looking suits in your photos, are they only from vacations, or trips to the ocean?

I don't get to wear them much other than swimming laps or in my backyard pool. My wife and daughters would be horrified if I wore them in public around them. So I have ventured out a few times on my own, but being a family guy, most of my outings are with them. It is what it is.

If it is at all financially do-able for you, take your wife and daughter on vacation to any beach in Italy or the south of France in August. There'll be tons of guys walking around in speedos. You won't look out of place, and if your wife and daughter still complain about your speedo, remind them of the saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do!"

I was in Italy this past summer and really, you will see guys in "slips" anytime of the year. What I found interesting was that I didn't see anyone walking around town in them. All men are wearing beachwear or trunks but not swim briefs. As soon as I got to the ocean or to the rented huts, I'd say easily 70% of the guys were wearing swim briefs. My guess is that most guys cover up with shorts when walking around town but take them off at the beach. I also saw a lot of square cut swim suits and some shorter volleyball type swimsuits. Literally, I saw just a handful of board shorts - maybe just 5% and they were by far, the minority. Board shorts were only worn by young guys in their teens. I was just south of Rome and I noticed only American family who the Dad, of course, was wearing simple & typical American board shorts. They were above the knee but not by much.

Interesting enough, I saw a lot of the guys who were wearing board shorts hanging out with their friends who were wearing really small briefs. I am guessing they were Arena since I seem to remember seeing a lot of the brand there (and they are made in Italy). What I thought was great was that some of the guys in board shorts were hanging out with their buddies in tin swim briefs... acting as if no one gave a rats ass who was wearing what.... and noone and I mean noone even blinked an eye when I was walking around in briefs. For once, I was in the majority! It is sort of crazy when I think back about it since I have never experienced that here in the states.
