I can't believe I didn't know this existed. I live in San Diego and an 1 hour away in Laguna Beach there is a beach called The West Street Beach and is a gay beach with lots of guys in speedos! Just look at the tips on their foursquare page! They also have a facebook page and youtube channel. They hold events every once and a while... they had pre-valentine's day beach party which sadly I didn't know about in time. So if you're in the San Diego Orange County area sounds like a cool place to check out and rock you're speedos!!! ;) ;) Has anyone been there before?

Re: The West Street Beach
I looked at the photos on the facebook page. Looks like a fun time had by all. Lots of good looking girls there too. I just wish guys in the US didn't have to search out isolated scattered pockets of beaches to enclave at to wear speedos. I look at all those youtube videos of italian men in speedos in mixed environment beaches and it's just normal and no big deal to see that there and I sigh and wonder why not here?

Your so right @diveguy we shouldn't have to seek out places to wear our speedos. For me its not about finding a place to wear a speedo because I wear them on any beach, pool, water park, or water activity and I don't care what people think. For me its about finding other guys who do. I do watch those videos of Italian men wearing speedos I only wish it was more common here. I was thinking that maybe its not about being taboo or anything like that because people don't seem to care that I'm wearing a speedo and wear pretty skimpy ones all the way to regular speedo solars. I think it just has to do with what guys know. I think some guys just never thought about it before. I was reading a blog post where this guy talks about his trip to France and he went to a mall there and he took a picture of the men's swimwear section which featured rows and rows of different types of speedos from well known brands such as Calvin Klein. I think if stores here especially in SoCal where I live carried speedos guys would wear them I know this is true because last summer H&M started selling one style of speedo in there store. While I didn't see any of my friends wearing them I did see more guys buying them while I was shopping there... guys who would normally go for the shorts thought they would give them a try. Even some people who I followed on social media who lived near me had bought them. I don't think your average guy buys his swimwear online regardless if he wears speedos or boardshorts. I think its just an after thought. Like oh I need a swimsuit for the beach and they drive to the nearest surf shop or mall and all they have are boardshorts so they buy what they have and go on there way . The only guys who order their swimwear online are guys who are into swimwear like you and me, or professional surfers or athletes. The average guy might order his swimsuit online if he goes into a store but can't find his size so he A, buys from the store he went to try the swimsuit on at on their online store or B, he goes to Amazon and does not think to click on briefs because all he knows is shorts. Theses are just my thoughts but with more beaches like this we can create the culture we want to see.
Re: The West Street Beach
Unfortunately, this is a grim reality. Many stores don’t stock Speedos, probably because they don’t sell. And if they do, it is such a limited variety, many times geared toward the swimmer. The Speedo wearing person is such a small percentage. Funny, people do wear them. Look at on-line retail market. There is so much out there.
Living on the eastern seaboard, I see less and less Speedos. While the beaches I frequent are not Speedo unfriendly, most guys just don’t seem wear them. Be it discomfit, peer pressure or family conscientiousness, whatever, it’s not happening. Other places, you don’t see them at all.
I don’t know what it is, but it’s sad that a person cannot wear a suit to hang out, catch some rays, and play in the water, and have to feel so out of place or under the microscope.
This is the reason that many like-minded individuals gather on specific beaches or in specific areas to enjoy the total and liberating freedom in an undisturbed and peaceful environment.
My two cents.
