Just about every time I have gone swimming with a friend, (in my speedo) they have admitted to me that they would like to get one. I don't think any of them did though. In this "land of the free" it takes courage to really be yourself.

Thats awesome @swimdude...I had a friend who was interested in wearing a speedo as well, we were going to go speedo shopping before the summer ended but it didn't end up happening because of our schedules. @guitarzan Yes it can be hard some times to be yourself in the "land of the free" I just did a post on why I think that is or how society views the male physique in the western world. http://www.thespeedoforum.com/viewtopic ... f7168bb30f

When I went to a pool party at a friends house in the summer one of the hosts friends came out wearing a gold speedo as a joke. Nobody really got upset so I went and changed and surprised them as well. When everyone went to the pool one of my friends pulled me aside inside and asked me if I had an extra one. Of course I had my black speedo solar which I let him borrow. He thought it would be funny to surprise them too. That probably was the only time I was able to wear a speedo all day and not care. If only I could get that courage at the beach.

Just do it. I found it easier to wear a speedo at the beach because I didn't know anyone else there. The anonymity factor. For me, it would be a lot harder to get the nerve to wear one in a group of folks I know and who know me. You're in shape and well built, there's no excuse not to wear your speedo at the beach!

I've tried convincing my friend to try out speedos at the pool. I wear them constantly and my swimming improved tenfold when I started to wear them more often and praise how light they are and how great they feel in the water compared to shorts. He doesn't deny the practicality but doesn't think he'd suit a pair of briefs. I've tried getting him in jammers or squarecut but instead he's bought a pair of Speedo swim shorts and decided they are best for him. Which is a shame, really, I think he'd look great and it would do wonders for his lap swimming.

Texas, I am proud you that you went forward to humorously wear a speedo, and even got another to go speedo, in front of your friends. I don't care that at the beginning it was a joke; you and others did it in front of the most judgmental we are often concerned about and ended up feeling comfortable with it, so take pride in your moment!

I wish you the confident to keep up the appearances, and just maybe, that friend that pulled you aside, was waiting for the right moment, and you provided him with a speedo to finally go speedo himself. Not to mention the host friend; after all, maybe it wasn't a joke, but his speedo wishing moment too? Releasing tension in a humorous way is often easier then in a serious, in your face way.

And Nate, I applaud you, and wish you luck in leading your swim mate to a better swimming routine.

You both are making very good speedo ambassadors! Congrats!

Keep speedoing, Snow
Let's keep it brief.

Didn't have much luck with a friend but the dog was quite keen.
It prefers AB squarecut.

use to live with 3 gay 18 year old guys, they had never hear of a speedo or even had the money to afford one, but everytime we went to the beach we would all wear speedos, of course, I had to purchase 2 size smaller for them, its more sexy that way

There is this guy at my pool, always swims in shorts. Recently, I approached him, held out a really nice Speedo and explained to him that I had just bought it (I did) and after using it a couple of times I found it was too big (and it actually was, at least by my standards) and I wasn't going to use it (I really wasn't), and was wondering if he wanted it (especially because I definitely wanted him to have it, and I had a good idea that he would look damn good in it).

I could tell he was a little (ok, a lot) uncomfortable as he took it, then immediately offered to pay for it. I politely refused and told him that I would never use it and it was going to be a waste of a perfectly good new suit.

Imagine my surprise days later, when he actually wore it! It was a thrill seeing him standing (uncomfortably) on the deck, in my suit, and having that wet Speedo plastered to his body (looking hot), thinking to myself, yeah ... I did that.
Check My Collection in Photos ... always adding new pictures! Fletch.

fbanks. very clever way to encourage someone who obviously like to try speedos and put him to the other side of the line! Nice!

Have a friend who normally wears his undies under his boardies for swims. He once told me he wouldn't mind trying on a speedo but recently he kind of changed his mind on wearing one. I bought him one and he did try it on but decided it was too tight and ended up ditching it. I haven't given up on him putting on a speedo though. Next time...

Man, I don't know but it seems terribly wrong from my point of view to wear:
a) boardies
b) and underwear beneath them - especially if it is with high cotton content (which I suppose is what your friend is wearing - most people with boardies are not Lycra fans)

Please, do tell him - how bad and damaging this could be for his manhood and that if now he is young and doesn't have problems - future will come - he'll get over 30ies and problems will start appearing.

At least - for his own good - advise him to wear the boardies without underwear if he is swimming.

I have seen many pictures with American guys on the beach in boardies and underwear beneath them, which kinda shocked me. If he doesn't believe you - send him to consult a proper doctor and take real medical advise on the topic!
