Does anyone think Tom Daley and his mates have just become poster boys for the speedo loving generation? Do they show young guys that you can actualy have fun, and not be accused of being gay, strange or perverted if you wear a speedo? Perhaps it's the start of beter things to come.

I'd have a hardb time controlling my curiosity. But I do hope speedos make a comeback.

It would be awesome if they could contribute to speedos coming back but I am skeptical. Particularly here in the US where not many people pay attention to British divers and just about everyone has already made up their mind if they love or hate speedos.

I think the London Olympics will have some effect worldwide-even in US. Phelps was a hero here (Tokyo) I think the interest in swimming as a real athletic even by very fit and attractive people caught the interest of all as we appreciated the human form. The effort of Australia's Mitchum was a great story highlighted by yhe gracefull beauty of his body. It will be a plus to all to see Daley who has changed in the 4 years since last olympics no matter what ones sexuality. He is a beautuful young man with a great story to tell-maybe some young American men will want to emulate him-that is if they are willing to work as hard has he has and does and in very tight speedos for they are part of the beauty of the dive.

Actually, I've noticed lately there are a significant number of young guys out jogging in "marathon" shorts like those worn with the 1980s track and field outfits.

The shorter trend is slowly, but surely making a comeback here in San Francisco. The same thing's probably going on in L.A. too. If it's happening in big cities throughout the U.S., it will undoubtedly catch on throughout the nation.

As I've said before, the only way we can bring back speedos, square cuts, or short running shorts is for all the guys that like them to start wearing them.

Speedos are largely associated with swimming, so the pool (that's where I wear mine) would be a good venue to "break in" the movement. Marathon shorts are associated with running, so start wearing them on your jogging trail.

CD You are right on the mark. I hate to see mothers dress there young boys in boardies which go below their knees. Kids have enough problem learning to swim that dragging around all that material. Seems like they go from diapers to boardies! See it every day at Y classes. Vermont is a liberal state but not when it comes to something like this. It just may be that the hype of the London games and if Daley does well some attentioin will be paid to him in the states because he is so young and can identify with a lot of his peers. Let's hope so!

When I was a kid, my mom (actually my parents) didn't let me wear shorts, even above the knee when I would swim. I had to wear speedos. My mom would say, "You have nice legs for a boy, show them. They're not fat legs and they're not chicken legs, don't hide them." Too bad speedos were sof rowned upon that I couldn't see myself wearing them anymore.
You forgot to mention btw the Canadian Olympic diver Alexander Despatie. He always wears speedos and he's so hot and sexy.

I noticed Despatie before Tokyo-he was getting a lot of Canadian coverage.-I liked his rough appearance and yet his grace with strong physicality. A "he man" in speedos. If any body is good athletically I think even the prudes will agree that they look good intheir garb-great skaters, ballet, biking swimming, track etc. Deep down I think that there are a lot of guys who would like to go more body revealing (skin) but are being held back for what they consider to be proper. Damit they all should come out at one the same day. American's are a bunch of hypocrital puritanical prudes!
