G'day Guys,

Welcome to the Speedo Forum.

If you are a guest, you can only see a small portion of the forum. Members like posting their speedo selfies so I don't like that to be 100% public. However, joining is free.

If you are a new member, you need to email me your username so I can manually activate your account. This is a pain (for you and me) but it is the only way I've been able to keep the spam bots from ruining the forum. My email address is: DaveEvans@SpeedoFetish.com

This forum is free and I don't allow any advertising (except my own sites), if you would like to donate please click the link above, all donations go towards the hosting and maintenance of the forum for everyone to enjoy.

Limiting access to photos section

Post by DaveSpeedoEvans » Tue Feb 21, 2012 3:06 am

Copy of something I posted in the 'Official News' section that I thought I'd post here as well.

=================================================

Hey guys,

I just wanted to leave a quick note about some changes Kip and I have made to the forum over the last couple of weeks.

First off, I had been noticing that the site traffic numbers were increasing with a big increase in the page views as the depth of conversations and the history of past conversations grew.

Last month the average visitor looked at between 14 and 15 individual pages.

There is no problem with that at all and while you guys continue to support SwimmerBoyz.com that cost is fine.

However, I did notice that it seemed like it was the same hardcore group of guys contributing 95% of the time.

Membership is free - it takes 2 minutes to join but it seems like people were being lazy and just enjoying listening in and checking out all the great pics and stories.

So I decided to limit the public access to the photos section. This means visitors who aren't logged in can't see the photos forum.

I'd love to hear your feedback on this guys and what you think about it.

It has only been a week or so and the boards daily visitor numbers have dropped by about 150 a day BUT there have been some great new members about the board (that might just be a coincidence).

Also the anti-spam stuff that Kip put in place 6 months ago seems to have worked pretty well. Thanks still has to be given to Scotty who is on the ball with removing anything and banning anyone that gets through.

It is wonderful to have a place like this and it has become such a great community of speedo enthusiasts.

It's a good idea Dave. However, don't forget that I've snet you a few messages before that I wouldn't mind being a moderator to help out in removing the spam. The offer still stands.

SpeedoBoi,

If I am ever in need of a moderator you are the top of my list mate.

I used to have to keep moderators on to ensure everyone was being polite and the ward off the spammers. Kip has dealt with the spammers and everyone is being polite these days.

Its a degree of protection
