Get out of the Speedo Closet

Guys, its time to get out of the closet. I read way too often on the board about guys that have speedos and keep them in hiding places so no one will know. Then there are the guys that take pics of themselves with their cel phones in the bathroom mirror. Then the perpetual question "is it speedo friendly?" Why? Why are you ashamed of your speedos? What do you expect to happen when you wear them? Do you think your friends or family are going to banish you to a desert island or never speak to you again? It sounds like terrible insecurity. Both in your self, your body and your ability to retain friends if you think or act for yourself.
Guys, we are talking about a swimsuit. The world will not spin off its axis if you wear one in front of someone else. Start off safe and modest if you think there will be an issue. Black or Navy blue about 3" sides is not overly revealing by size and the dark fabric is less exposing of the contents.(don't get them too tight) There will be comments - there are always comments when someone does something a little different. Don't let them bug you - fire back. You'll get the "I wouldn't wear that" -- respond: "If I had your body I wouldn't either" or the "only gays wear those things" -- your respond: "And you know this how?" Both responses will turn the tables on them. You will be surprised on how fast any comments will stop -- unless they see they are getting to you. Then they will continue to taunt you. The truth is, most will be jealous that you have the nerve to wear them or do something different. The less issue you make of them, the less they will too.
You have to use a mirror to get a pic? Why? You don't have one single friend that you can ask? Are you that insecure that your wearing a speedo has been never been shared with anyone, even your best friend? How about just saying to a friend when they are over. "I've been thinking about wearing a speedo and swimming for exercise and I just bought one. Will you take a couple pics of me so I can see how it looks?" Would that really send a friend screaming into the night? Have him turn on you and never speak to you again? I am guessing that neither will happen. If they are a friend, they will comply with your request or decline if they aren't comfortable doing it. You are not asking for something outrageous. It may lead to his trying them on too and becoming your speedo buddy, or he may just take the pic and never mention it. Again, ask! The worst he can do is say no. Remember, you can always wear them under your regular board shorts and let your friends see you in the speedos when you change. You can even make a joke about your sexy speedo under suit. Comments, if any, will be a barometer of reactions when the shorts aren't there.
I have a friend that hates my speedos and they gross him out. (With his build I am glad he would never consider them) I have told him that I wear them all the time at home due to comfort and convenience (have a pool) and if he is going to stop by without calling ahead he will see me wearing them (from g-strings to regular speedos) I will be nice an pull on a pair of shorts when he arrives, but with no advance call he will catch a peek. He is my best friend and that is one thing he knows about me and accepts. That's what friends and family are. They accept you for you and your quirks without judging.
"Is the beach speedo friendly" give me a f---ing break. It is a beach, people wear swimsuits and speedos are swimsuits so wear them. I have been on beaches and pools all over the world wearing speedos. May have been the only one wearing one, but never had an unfriendly experience. (actually sometimes they may be too friendly and will approach you hoping for more than a swim) Remember, everyone on the beach is a stranger and don't really care what you have on. They will look out of a momentary curiosity, as they do when anyone arrives, but they will not jump up with and Uzzi and cut you down. Actually, it is the best place to wear them at first. With only strangers around you can get used to the feel in public without the pressure of friends or family making comments.
Guys, get over yourselves and wear your suits. Take them out of your hiding places and put them on and wear them. You are putting too much importance in wearing a swim suit. It could never be as traumatic as you have yourselves thinking. Besides, it will prepare you for other things in life that you may have a mental block about. If you can't even imagine being in the same room with another human wearing a speedo, maybe it is time to get professional help.
