the best week I have ever had was when my wife and I went to the Dominican Republic on vacation. What made it so good was that I spent nearly the entire time in just a speedo. I wasn't sure at first what the etiquette would be regarding wearing speedos, but I figured that since the resort was visited by many europeans, it was safe to assume there would be plenty of speedo wearing guys there. As soon as we made it to the beach, I knew it was going to be a great time. I looked up and down the beach and saw not only several guys in speedos, but many topless women as well. Now knowing that it was ok, I slipped off my swim trunks, soaking up the sun's rays and revealing my bulging speedo.
The freedom that comes with wearing a speedo in public is so refreshing as it feels almost like you are naked. I sometimes venture to the beach nearby where I live here in the us, but it is not the same, since speedos are not as widely accepted here. The feeling of freedom and the need to show off becomes stronger than any apprehension of being ridiculed, so I go anyway, enjoying it the best I can, but it will never be the same as that week on vacation

Where in Doninican Republic was that? which resort?
I've been to DR before and I saw maybe one... or two speedos? boring! I had a lot of looks with mine, but not the right kind.

well, it looks like I'll have to talk my wife into vacationing in the DR this winter!!!

i think it matters where you stay - i saw a couple the time i went - they were hot - but still just a couple

Whether you get acceptance or rejection depends on the area.

I am not familiar with DR, but here in San Francisco, I go swimming at a city pool in a blue speedo and running in short marathon shorts.

No looks and no problems what so ever.

If you go to Miami FL, speedos are commonly used on the beaches. Us guys cannot everyone else to accept them if we do not wear them out there ourselves!

we went to the iberostar resort in the dr in punta cana. can't speak to anyone else's experience, but I enjoyed many sights and as many looks.

Hey Pas, stayed at the Fountainbleau, in Miami, a few months ago. There was definately a few speedos. Not so few that they were out of place...but few enough that we were really noticed. I thought there would be more!
