New Suit for Water Polo?

Hi guys!
I am a keen swimmer and wear regular speedo briefs or squarecuts when working out in the pool.
I am interested in joining a local water polo club and was wondering if water polo players wear special suits or are the ones I have suitable? There are water polo suits for sale, but how are they different? They look like normal speedos to me.
Thanks!

the speedo briefs u have are enough. waterpolo players dont wear squarecuts nor jammers. they even wear two speedos at the same time, one underneath the other just in case some player of the other team takes one off u still got cover.

as hotjunglekid said, what you have is enough infact you may need to buy another couple of pairs since u will probably wear two at a time for safety or go risky and wear 1 and keep as you are, remember thought people play dirty lol

I know it's been a while since this was posted, but since I came across this site recently, I thought about posting a reply. This is a site that sells waterpolo swim wear. the prices are however in British pounds.

Try the following website, some of the items are cheaper.

The answer to how the suits are different is that they are often made of heavier weight (thicker) material than the regular swimming suits, regardless of the fabric blend that's used, so they stand up to the rigors of the game. It's also common for stronger, more durable fabrics to be used (i.e. all nylon). The suits are also worn much smaller and tighter than regular swimsuits, to prevent other players from grabbing and holding on to the suit. At pools around here (California), wearing suits so small and tight that crack is showing in back has become a virtual norm for players from high school age on up.

Thanks for the info. Hotswimmr. Maybe I should look into joining a recreational water polo club once I improve my swimming.

Water polo suits have longer sides and can be made out of 100% nylon or polyester that doesn't have much stretch since there isnt any lycra. You wear them tight and then they cant be pulled off as much. Some are listed as "double lined" which may be another name for fully lined. I just dont know. But the idea is that they are more durable. Maybe the double lining makes them harder to pull off. Lots of stuff happens underwater that you don't see.
Heres a web address for the SwimOutlet water polo page

Heres one for truWest. They have a two-layer suit in nylon. Their eurocut water polo looks okay. Some of their colors/patterns are weird.

truWest used to have a slightly weird rubber water polo suit that was tough to pull off. It must have been tough to pull on since they don't sell it anymore.
