I just want to say that I had a great 4th weekend in my speedo! My friends never saw me in one before, and they didn’t care too much. One only made a comment like “is your girlfriend okay with that choice in swimwear?”

Nice! Speedos are the official swimwear of freedom.
Little known fact: King George wore boardshorts.

I always try to get to Sand Harbor beach on the
Nevada side north, or to the small coves along the coastal trail there. Crystal clear water but bracing cold, so you don’t have to worry about a bulge (why worry?!)
One time we happened to be up at South Tahoe for the fireworks on the 4th, and there was in fact a guy in a bright red white and blue speedo, turning heads. A very white guy, appearing self conscious. I felt invisible wearing a classic endurance+, but I think I’d to acquire a Mark Spitz suit too for the occasion. There can be a wide mix of people up there at Tahoe, it’s okay. they all expect the unexpected.
My hero among the founding fathers of the USA was Ben Franklin. An avid swimmer in his youth, promoter of the art, not afraid to bare it all in front of his friends.
