Hi All,

I'm just back from Mauritius and I'm thrilled to be able to say that, despite only being there for a week, I saw 6 other blokes in Speedos, five were with wives / girlfriends and one would just run along the beach alone. All were relatively skimpy at (guessing) 5cm sides or less. There was one Italian guy in tiny white Speedos. I mostly wore my Ergowear or Box trunks as they're the skimpiest I have.

Obviously, there were lots of board shorts but interestingly I only saw one man in square cut trunks. I'm hoping the word of the Speedo is spreading and becoming a bit more popular?

What's everyone else's experience from your travels this summer?

Dumb American here- where do most of the tourists who travel to Mauritius come from? My assumption is that if there are more French or Italian tourists, you'd see more speedos than if it were mostly UK tourists? (And certainly no Americans would be wearing speedos.)

As I've said in another thread my wife and I are planning our dream vacation to the Maldives and I think there are quite a few Americans there... more than you'd see in other Indian Ocean destinations like Mauritius, the Seychelles, or Reunion. I plan to stick mostly to speedos anyway, though...

Yes you were right in your assumptions, as far as I could tell.
