Life's Short

With everything locked down, we haven't been able to do much socializing. Everyone is trying to keep in touch, but it's hard when you can't simply get together. A small group of friends has been doing occasional Zoom happy hours. During one of our calls, someone suggested a weekly photo challenge to help combat the cabin fever. We were all game.
It's a one week rotation. When your week comes up, you take a photo (or a few) based on the phrase "Life's short...." and send it to the group. Everyone else has that week to accept the challenge and post their own photo. Some pick silly ideas for photos. Others suggest activities. When our turn came around, we picked a swimsuit theme.
"Life's short, wear a bikini." We sent out a few photos of our family relaxing outside in bikinis, speedos, and thongs.
This particular group tends to be more conservative when it comes to attire. We've known the three other families for a long time, and I've rarely seen the other moms in anything less than a tankini and the guys all wear shorts.
The week passed by without anyone accepting the challenge. Finally, on the last day, there was one response. "Rockin' our bikini bods." was all it said. In the accompanying picture, the parents and their daughters were posing on their deck. The women were in bikinis and the dad was wearing a solid navy speedo.
The response from the other two families in the group was great. Everyone was very body positive and gave them a virtual thumbs up. Less than an hour later, we got another reply. "Worked up the courage to see if the swimsuits we bought for our Europe trip still fit." They'd laid some suitcases out on the bed like they were packing. The mom was in a bikini. The dad and their two sons were in speedos.
We went on to the next challenge without a response from the final family. About half way through the week, there was another response to ours. "Realize we're late, but we wanted to join the fun." They'd taken a photo while relaxing by a lake while hiking. The mom and daughter were in cheeky bikinis. The dad and son were in speedos.
It was our turn again this week, and we'd been discussing some ideas. My daughter suggested one that seemed fun, but we weren't sure if it would go over well. Sticking to the theme, we decided "life's short" and went for it.
"Life's short, celebrate National Nude Day on July 14." We had a lot of fun taking the photos. There was one of us in the hot tub with swimsuits scattered around the deck. Another was of us in the kitchen with various items and open cabinets arranged to conceal ourselves. Suggestive, but not revealing everything.
The last photo was of swimsuits scattered in the grass. We took it at just the right time of day, so our shadows overlaid them.
We put one final photo behind a link at the end. We figured if people had made it that far and clicked through, they knew what to expect. The photo was taken from the same position as the previous, but panned up to us in our nude glory. After one last check to make sure the kids were okay with it, we sent it out to our friends. Then we waited.
To be continued...
