UK Pools and Gyms reopen this month

The UK Government has just announced that indoor pools and gym facilities can reopen from Saturday 25th July. New guidance will be issued which will allow pools and gyms to open safely, this will include limiting the number of participants at any one time.
Open-air pools can reopen even earlier, from Saturday 11th July - although with so little notice and with seasonal lifeguards not having been recruited and trained it is unlikely that most outdoor pools would be able to reopen that quickly, and some may not open at all this summer.
The moves came after the fitness sector expressed frustration with the Government when it was left out of the loosening of restrictions last weekend. The Prime Minister had claimed that there was to be a renewed focus on tackling obesity, but as the owner of PureGym said: “It is a strange war on obesity that sees pubs and restaurants open before gyms”.

Scuba diving is such an expensive sport to do. Stay away from PADI divers Speedomartin. I won’t be joining any pools or gyms. Not confident in the facilities ability to enforce the rules. Seen what my local ASDA is doing is a joke.

Agree but I will only do anything when I feel safe and the numpty tourists have gone home (sorry tourists). But to be fair it's like that most summer's here. However it's a beautiful coastline in East Riding of Yorkshire.

Down my way, my nearest pool and the one I use regularly is a community pool, and will not open until early September as it is not viable to do so until its school and club bookings return.
The main leisure centre, which has a 25-metre pool, is planning to reopen on 25th July. They will offer a facility to pre-book even for people who use the centre on a pay-per-use basis.
The outdoor seawater pool won't open this year as it needed repairs which could not be carried out due to the need for social distancing. They are concentrating on fundraising and repairing the pool to reopen next May.

I have seen a small private gym and pool near me, so I will take a look at it and then make a decision. However I will still be anxious but this is the "new normal", sadly. We must try and move forward safely.

Glad they are finally opening and can't wait to get back in the water in my speedos and start swimming again.

All the dork shorts will appear at the pools. You wait and see.
