Re: Online Speedo article: Straight American Men hate Speedos for No Good Reason
Wow that article pretty much summed up what so many years of numerous threads and countless posts at this site have said.
It could have mentioned that the "speedo" concept has mutated into other designs that may offend people who might otherwise be okay with a family friendly, swim team approved, high school approved garment. I think I've said before that prancing around in a thong where a brief swimsuit might be the limit of acceptance probably isn't doing the speedo crowd any good.
Oh well. Back to the photo threads. Let's see some Speedos shoved aside to let loose some gigantic full on boners. It's okay to fantasize what a particular impressive one would feel like in my mouth while I sample little tastes of the fluid oozing out of my own. That is normal behavior here, right?

A great article, Thom. Thanks for posting!
Yes, speedophobia is a topic we've discussed at length without ever getting to the bottom of it. Really, I think peer pressure/need to conform with one's less adventurous mates is to blame. Although such pressure isn't logical, since in Australia most males are happy to wear speedos up to and including puberty. It's only in late adolescence, speedos disappear from the pool in favour of ugly shorts, etc.
I agree mid-length shorts are a nightmare to wear - accidental exposure waiting to happen. Spread your legs and the world can see your balls, your dick and where the sun don't shine too. Hardly a superior choice to speedos, which at least cover everything.
I don't think guys need to be perfectly chiselled to look great in speedos - just an average body is fine, as long as "average" doesn't mean "grossly overweight". The truth is Western males have been neglected their health and fitness way too long, and maybe don't want to face reality - that they're not as attractive at thirty-odd as they were at nineteen. Women are to blame if women don't push their men to stay in reasonable shape. We're not talking perfection, just normal manliness.
Yes, speedos are a fetish for some people. Doesn't mean the general population should stop wear them. Do women stop wearing shoes because some men fetishize women's shoes or attractive women with nice legs are often seen wearing shoes in public? (And no, women's shoes aren't a fetish of mine. Promise!)

I went swimming twice last week. Once in a pair of red and blue striped briefs, and the other in a pair of light coloured mid thigh shorts made in a light, thin material, blueflinch wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 2:06 pm

My wife asked if the briefs were new, which they weren't but I hadn't worn them for a long time.
Interestingly though, when wearing the mid thigh shorts, my wife said "those shorts are a bit revealing."
I thought at the time it was quite an amusing comment considering the size difference in material, but she further explained that the material of the shorts clinged to my groin a lot more when wet, and when dry and I was sitting down she had seen straight up the leg.

Side note, the Vanwolff brand speedos mentioned at the start of the article sell for $130!

LOL! I once visited very quickly an LGBTQ clothing store that had size 12 high heels for men. No speedos, it was mostly T. Cool, but not my particular fetish. I'm strictly a speedo person.blueflinch wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 2:06 pmA great article, Thom. Thanks for posting!

Mid length is awful. The only one I bought that sort of worked was by Mundo Unico that was anatomical and kept everything in place. Unico actually does make things that fit men. I have a lot of their underwear. I downsize so it's skin tight, but the fit is so perfect--at least on me--that it's like wearing nothing, yet keeps the boys happy when I have to lift computers and servers at work.
Glad you liked the article. It seemed to sum things up.

Sorry about that. I never logged in to the Mel site, so I didn't log out. Just closed the window. Mel seems to be a popular culture site, not a gay site. While not a perfect article, I thought it made a few points. Opened and closed the Mel link again, and I didn't get a link to a gay site. You do when you log out of THIS site, the one we're on. I just close the window and always access this speedo board in a private window.landoffrozensheep wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:31 pm
Doesn't help acceptance of them at all, neither does the logout page - takes you to speedofetish, which then implies this site is a front for a gay porn site...considering walking away tbh

Which is what I was referring to when I said it doesn't help acceptance, nor does the logout page for this site which redirects to "speedo fetish"Oh well. Back to the photo threads. Apologies for any confusion

Being a straight American man, I would have to disagree with the title. American women seem to be the negative ones. There are plenty of women who post very negative comments in other sites. At best, they will say, only if you ARE (insert dream celebrity's name) should you be allowed to wear a speedo. Otherwise, no one wants to see that.
Additionally, in my experience, usually men are the ones looking at me, and not in a negative way, or so my wife tells me. I'm generally oblivious to those around me.
