I own one, and it is just skimpy enough to enjoy wearing- but also swim 'appropriate' enough to look like a piece of sports uniform. I feel that it is the last swim brief that looks as small as we all imagine them to be from a major company, so in a way, we can wear it as minimal as it is while it still has that "Speedo" logo that sets it as a non-fetish swimsuit. I stress this because brands like JJ Malibu, Charlie, AC, Aussiebum etc. are more of leisure wear and anyone who sees someone with them could think, "oh they must be gay", but the Speedo Solar Brief allows one to subvert that.

Across any website, the Solar has some of the best model pictures. I always enjoy reading the reivews and seeing how much other men enjoy the Solar. It makes the think speedos are not dead.

I had to get two pairs of from the solar range imported from the US as they don’t sell them in the EU.

They fit so nicely, are really brief on the side which I love. And the material holds you really well. I quite like that it’s lined throughout and love the central and rear seam!

Agree they are a brilliant swim brief and do deserve more recognition!

I actually know another board member who tried mine on and looked amazing in them too!

solar are so tight though. even after going up one size.

I like the look of the heather gray one.

And I do like the respectability, but I also don't give a damn if someone sees me in public and thinks I'm gay. Probably think twice about hassling me.

The material of the Heather Gray is quite different from my other Solars. I still have not decided if they are my most or least favorite.

My only Solar, and also, my only orange suit! Super comfortable suit, but I wish it was a true 1" side. I scrunched them up a little for the pic to mimic that.

Those look great on you (minus the socks). I agree on the sides. I wish they were a true 1”. I also do the scrunching thing to minimize them.

Amazing photo there - the orange pair really compliment you and look sexy as!

I wore my new Speedo Solar for the first time today. It fits great. The last few I have ordered I sent back because they were oddly shaped with a really high rise waist and high leg cuts. This one however fits like they used to fit years ago.

I wouldn’t mind if it had narrower sides and a lower rise waist with a larger front pouch.

I have the same suit but do wish the sides were more narrow.

Speedo solar is the only Speedo brand suit I would wear. The rest I’ll have way too wide of sites. I do wish these were narrower.

With my wife it’s a rule that I have to take my socks off first when undressing. She does NOT want to see me naked with socks on.

I have at least 10 Solars, in at least 8 different colors. The newer ones have smaller sides again. There were a few years when the sides got to be about 2 inches or so, but the ones I got last year were closer advertised. My avatar is my favorite right now.

haha... I love those socks! I only wish they color-matched the speedo.

Exbex and BJE, both of you guys look great in your Solars. I have an orange one, and am looking to order the patterns one BJE is wearing

Speedo Solars are one of the great designs of man-swimwear. I've got 3 pairs inc the unusual Heather Grey one [Personal import from USA, I think I got it from Macy's]. The sides are brief and have generated a lot of comment on the site over the years. At one time they were briefer; I think they advertise 1 inch sides but when worn now the sides are deeper than 1 inch.
The white ones are oldest and have noticeably narrower hips. They are also Nylon/Lycra, whilst the newer blue ones have recycled nylon instead. I'm sure my grey ones are Polyester/ lycra which helps make them slightly matt to give a cotton marl effect.
I've always like briefs with a cock-seam, one thing I really like about Solar's is they have an arse-seam as well to give wearers mighty fine cheeks.

Haven't any myself, but have been fortunate enough to have tried a couple on, great fitting Speedo, I feel really sexy in one! Unsure orange is for me tho, despite the desire to try it on, however I'm fine leaving it on you Exbex, as it looks great on you, really shows off that bulge of yours

Solars were some of the best suits put out by Speedo. I still have some of the real originals … not the bigger redesigned ones being passed off as Solars … put away in baggies that are still used today. Love them for the beach, tanning, and yes, I have used them for laps. The one inch sides, pouched front and rear seam fit my body so nicely. I probably had over a dozen at one time in different colors and sizes. With the cut and style, I could size down one and even two sizes and still have it fit nicely. Unfortunately, time, chlorine and suntan lotion degrade the suits and they have gone to Speedo heaven one at a time.
