College Swim Meet

Post by 52dno98 » Mon Jan 14, 2019 5:16 am

Noticed that a college swim meet- Virginia vs. Tennessee- this past week, most of the men wore speedos for most of the swims. There were a few jammers here and there but it was almost all speedos. Wonder if that's a trend?

I put a lot of blame on FINA for letting first.y the tech suits and then jammers come into the picture for swimming.
Why can’t they just go back to Speedos. Surely this would male the Speedo more acceptable to people to wear them.

The pool I swim had winter training for a number of college teams this month. I say 90% of the guys were in speedos. I hope is a trend that sticks. We all know there is nothing better than a speedo for swimming.

Besides just bringing back the general acceptance of Speedos, just a few other benefits of bringing them backI can think of are= 1: Cheaper b/c Less material. 2: being less coverage, I'd say no matter what you made them out of, nobody should be able to claim it gave you any advantage. 3: As there is no compression or major deformation of the body form the speeds achieved by the swimmers are entirely from the hard work they put into it. Not how much they spent on a suit and how many people helped them get into said suit. I mean come on, if you need an instructional video and an assistant to get into your swimsuit??? REALLY?? Good for the Virginia and Tennessee Teams, make swimming all about the abilities of the swimmers, not the achievements of scientists in a clothing lab.
