Europe

Hi all,
I recently was in Europe (I live in the US)for an awesome two week long trip with my wife. We started off our first week in Italy (Naples/Amalfi coast). While in Italy we spent a good amount of time at a few different beaches. Speedos are definitely frequently worn by Italians, young and old. However not as prevalent as Sicily which I’ve been to several times (and that’s another story), where almost all guys wear speedos.
The hotel we stayed at was about 30 minutes south of Sorento. The beach next to our hotel was made up of small rocks/pebbles, which was actually kind of nice (no sand). The beach was mostly made up of chairs and umbrellas you can rent from different beach clubs (rather common in Italy), or you could lay in a few areas that were designated as a free beach. This beach attracted mostly Italian tourists, and about 1 out of 4 guys wore a speedo, and the ones that did not wear a brief had on short shorts.
We did go to Positano for a day and hung out on that beach, which is beautiful by the way and a must see. However Positsno does attract a lot of US tourists, and you see less brief swimsuits being worn on this beach probably due to that (probably 1 in 8 guys wears a brief).
On another day, we made a trip to the island of Ischia which is a short ferry ride from either Sorento or Naples and visited a thermal bath park. This place was like a giant day spa that had 20+ pools/caves/ Turkish baths of varying temperatures you could go in. Once you get into the park, you strip down to your swimsuit and walk around from pool/bath in your suit. Here about 70% of the guys wore briefs or some sort of squarecut suit. I would recommend trying this out if you are ever in Naples or Sorento. Plus you can hang out in a speedo all day.
The last part of our trip we spent in Barcelona Spain. Several of the beaches in Barcelona, I did see plenty of speedos, probably not as many as I saw in Italy.
However the beach across from our hotel had a much higher concentration of speedos, which part of this beach was nude and part was the gay beach. Here some people were nude, however more had suits on than not, and the guys that did have suits on, had on a speedo.
After all this I am ready to go back!
