Does anyone wear speedos for yoga? My wife and I take a class together once or twice a week, and she's been encouraging me to wear a speedo instead of my regular shorts. I wear them elusively when I swim, but the idea of wearing a speedo in a yoga class still makes me a little nervous.

I think you'd have to gauge the feel of the class, if it was just me in a speedo I'd feel a tiny bit uncomfortable. Maybe start with some jammers which could basically be yoga gear anyway, and then something smaller the next time. A speedo would be great though, no material to get in the way and your package supported really snug!

Probably can use square cuts but I have seen in some power yoga or birkhram hot yoga some people in Speedos or square cuts.

As someone with a yoga teaching certification, I suggest you not do that, at least not in a regular, public yoga class. One of the goals is to free yourself of distractions. Giving others more to look at like that would not only distract others, but also yourself unfortunately. Unless the women are wearing bikinis and other men in speedos, you will stick out as attention-seeking and upset the class. For example, I have taken naked yoga classes full of men, and was not distracted at all, since everyone looked the same. But if a cute girl in a white tank top a little too thin is in my regular class, I would probably go easy so as not to cause her to sweat and make her shirt transparent. If you're there for attention, you're there for the wrong reasons.
Personally, I prefer wearing baggy, heavy boxers with thicker gym / basketball shorts to yoga. They absorb the sweat and do a good job of still keeping me covered during inversion poses.
Have you thought of practicing yoga at home with your wife, using a DVD or online class? I have done it at home in a speedo, when it was laundry day and had nothing else to wear.
Some studios do partners yoga, which is a very good experience, or there is Thai yoga massage.

personally, its an exercise class, go with what your comfortable with. I remember when women wore thong leotards over shorts to the gym in eye burning colours.
heavy baggy boxers sound like hell, personally speedos with compression shorts on top to wick sweat away and not chafe when wet as cotton does

There are lots of videos on YouTube of men doing yoga in speedos so I would think it should be ok.

I've seen a few books on yoga where the male model wore a speedo cut brief, but I'd guess it's rare. Maybe it was to show the anatomy of the form. I've only taken tai chi, and I wore a martial arts uniform for that--seemed appropriate because it was taught in a dojo and we'd get some martial arts training after the tai chi class. At home, I've worn running tights for yoga. I bought lycra stretch leggings from the Mertailor company. I really like those better than running tights. Very comfortable, more so than running tights which I've found hard to fit. Either too loose or too tight.

I participate in a twice-weekly yoga class and would not wear my speedo. It's just, for me, the wrong clothing choice for the activity. I wear fairly loose running shorts (with a liner) and t-shirt. At home, my boyfriend and I often practice yoga in speedos or less, depending on our mood for the evening. But I really prefer something looser-fitting than a speedo for yoga.
