How do you all get the smell of sunblock out of your suits? I have a few suits I haven't worn in a couple years and they still smell of sunblock.

I rinse them immediately after use and then wash them, but still the scent lingers......

I don’t get sunblock on my suits.

When all you do is burn like me, it happens haha.

I usually put it on 10-15 minutes before I put on the suit. I guess from sweat and water it just gets in it....don't know.

The only place I use sunblock is on my face, ears and the tops of my shoulders.

I love the smell of sunblock!

Handwash with woolite usually gets most of it out. Swimoutlet sells other washes for getting chlorine, etc. out of suits. I used one for while I still swam at the gym and it worked well on the chlorine smell. Summer Solutions. I kinda like the smell of sunscreen though; good memories.

Staying at the Iberostar in Bayahibe. Chose there since it is closest to the best diving in the Dominican (which there isn't much).

I don't mind the smell - I more worry about impacting the colour of my suit - especially if wearing one of my white suits. I usually apply before I put my suit on and use cream rather than oil. I find cream washes out more easily and less likely to stain

I second the woolite as a very last resort or Mrs Meyers... detergent that is non-chemical because it will break down the lycra. There are swimsuit washes out that that work on chlorine but not sun tan lotions which are oil based.

While I am tan extremely easily, I understand the damage sun can do even if I don't see it so I always put some block on even if I don't need it. Personally, I think deep tans can make the skin look like leather and no doubt age and wrinkle faster. While we will all get old, I am in no hurry to speed up my own process of looking it.... lol

Sunblock, or any other greasy / oily stuff is not good for lycra briefs, so avoid it getting anywhere near. Endurance type fabrics do better, but the fabric can still be clearly marked by the stuff. Less noticable with darker colours. Living in the UK, there is rarely any need for sunblock, because there is rarely enough sun to warrant putting the stuff on!

I might just have to try woolite. Some of my suits still smell like sunscreen years after the very few times I've worn them on the beach. Thanks for the tip!

I hadn't considered there! I went to the Dominican last May (stayed at the Iberostar Baravo), and the diving was quite choppy but still fun. There were quite a few guys in speedos (both gay and straight), which was better than it was in Mexico.

Yea...you were on the choppy side of the island from what I have read. Best diving is apparently Bayahibe, which is why I chose to stay there. Wife and I are huge divers. I leave Thursday, so will let you know.

I have to use sunblock all over.

Years ago, one of the swim suit makers told me to use simple hair shampoo for lycra suits.
I use el cheapo Suave shampoo when I get back from the beach.
