I’ll admit that I let myself go a little bit in the last year because of some health issues, but I’m ready to start my gym routine again and get my speedo physique back to happy time again.

I am with you shadowmn, I am hitting the gym again in the new year.
Because of back problems I haven't been in a while.
But I want to get back into shape for the summer.
Might even post some progress pics. We will see.

Constant battle in my case. First pound the hardest but don’t beat yourself up. Should start a new thread with a pic. Think a lot of the guys would join in showing progress as we move towards the summer

Too much chocolate and ice cream during the Christmas and new year season. Not helping the situation

I saw lots of new faces at the gym today... the "new year / new you" crowd!
I'm also a work in progress, but looking forward to my best speedo physique this summer. It can be hard to stay motivated because gym results are pretty slow to develop. But stick with it everyone!

Our rec center was crazy today too. Typical for this time of year. Give it a couple weeks, it will be back to normal.
I really applaud all efforts to get fit and keep a fine physique. And I encourage all my friends here to work hard at it, learn the proper nutrition for your body, and stick with it! Happy New Year!

Today I went to the gym for the first time this year. It was closed yesterday. It was not at all crowded. Perhaps that was because I was there at 10:00am to noon. Likely I was busier early in the morning and this evening.
My physique too is a work in progress. It has been in progress for the past 37 years. Maybe someday I’ll get to where I want to be. Building muscle has never been easy for me and at my age I have to be careful about what I do in order to not injure myself or flare up old injuries. Knees, shoulders, back etc.

Looking at your profile photo, I'd venture a guess that you know how to achieve a fine physique. Maybe you've let it slip since then but you know how to get it back. Do it! Remember it gets more difficult and eventually impossible as you age, and that what you're feeding yourself is a huge factor.
Please, also encourage others to do likewise and set a good example for the younger ones.

Bje those flare ups are in all of us. Especially as we get closer to the golden years. I can actually say a lot of days I don’t know why I’m doing this. If it wasn’t for the need to look good in a speedo I probably won’t. Lol
I told myself at age fourteen that I would NEVER let my body become what I noticed so many older guys had. Now we call it the Dad Bod but even that, by todays health and fitness standards, is better than what I see so much of at our gym. These poor guys are there on doctors orders and they are twenty years too late. That is sad. Worse, they have been a horrible example to their kids, but ironically THAT example is what motivated me to stay fit.
I'm only a couple years younger than you and I know what you're going through. I'm here to encourage you to keep it up, and help others get there and stay there. So we'd all fit in to one speedo group photo and not so thoroughly disgust the viewer that they would want speedos banned at their beach.

Nice thanks. Do you want to come do my cardio. For me I hate it. Lol
My cardio happens in the pool. I'm tracking my yardage on a chart along with dozens of other swimmers. I get about a thousand yards a day, not a lot but these are in various length swims and I track the time and rest period. Sometimes I wear a TomTom which reads my heartrate. As I swim fast and hard, HR runs about 150-155, pretty good effort for our age. This is the method that has worked best for me all these years, to stay in good shape and keep muscle tone better than most guys half my age.

My cardio is primarily swimming, too. I do triathlons, but I tore my left calf a while back while running, so I can't run right now. And it's too cold to ride the bike. Plus swimming is an excuse to wear my speedos!

Where are you guys from Lower south west corner of Michigan USA here. Cold as hell. -10 degrees yesterday’ and lots of snow.
Perfect speedo weather then Mitch. Lol.
