Hi guys

So my summer holiday is here. After much admiration for speedos and always jealously onlooking at guys wearing speedos at the beach, I finally took the decision this year to do the same.

The world didn't open up, nobody ran for the hills (shockingly) - I'm genuinely surprised by the number of people also wearing speedos in Greece.

Not actually managed to walk across the beach yet into the water but sunbathing wasn't bad!

Any tips to break the final barrier? I must admit I did put shorts back on very quickly after taking the photo!

Well done. As to final step, just do it. As you said you are not alone and no one reacted to you sun bathing.

I think I need to get a holiday for next year booked and pack a few pairs of Speedos.

Scottiebum was right, just do it! You might think that everyone is watching, but they really aren't.

Congrats! I'd recommend having a drink to ease with your inhibitions and then go for a short stroll. Update us on how it goes.

If I had a drink to wear a Speedo on my hols, I would be flat on my arse uncontious. Lol

Great pictures. You just need to stop thinking about anyone else. I've worn then on New Jersey beaches, and I was the only guy in a speedo. Just have fun and enjoy yourself.

Commit to it. If you take off your shorts, you are making a statement. When you put the shorts back on so quickly, it shows low self confidence. What you need to do it lay out in your speedo for a while even if you feel uncomfortable. I've found that wearing headphones puts you in you own world and provides a sense of security. The final step is to walk down to the water with your head up without shame. Talk yourself through it in your head if you have to. Once you do it, you won't want to put those shorts back on, trust me!

Although the ground didn't open up, the heavens did and I didn't get a chance to wear them again on the beach.

My experience has given me a push to persevere and continue. Thinking of now taking myself and my speedos and hitting the pool/ sauna at the gym. Hopefully the reception back in the U.K. will be similar!

I think you just need to wear them and not thinking about it. You just have to act like it's he natural thing to do. There's probably someone at the beach that might not like any particular long suit you might wear but you aren't self conscious about that. Most of all you have to act as though you've always warn them and don't even think about if anyone is looking at you. I think that in reality nobody really cares what you wear. The fear of what others think is all in your head. While some may look at you and think you look ridiculous they aren't going to come up to you and tell you so. Have you ever commented to someone at a beach or pool that you don't like what they are wearing? When I see a fat woman in a skimpy bikini I think to myself how bad she looks but I don't stare or comment.


I don't live near beaches but I make a commitment in the first part of April that I would wear only speedos at pools and so far I have stuck with it. I was self conscious at first especially if there were families there but I got used to it an it's really seldom that I notice anyone noticing me. It's really the same as if I was wearing any other type of suit. It helps to wear sun glasses so you can look at others without them noticing. When I do this I see that people walking past me are involved in their own business and aren't paying any attention to me or what I'm wearing.

I have gotten a few good comments though. A friend of mine upon seeing me said that with my tan I look like an Acapulco cliff diver. Various others have commented on my fitness. No one has made a comment directly about my speedo.

Nice speedos mate - don't waste time with any hang-ups or worries about what others might think. Just enjoy your speedos.
