Speedo Beaches Australia

Hey guys I am going to Australia next year as a study abroad and was wondering what beaches in Sydney or around that area are the most speedo friendly. I know speedos are more accepted everywhere than in the US, but was wondering where I can see the most people like me so I don't stand out. This will also help my confidence since I have never worn a speedo in public. Thanks for your help.

You could go to any Sydney beach and be comfortable and accepted in speedos. I guess the most speedo-friendly might be North Bondi, Bondi and Tamarama. But all of them are fine.... Freshwater, Manly, Bronte, Coogee, Maroubra....the list goes on.

Go for it!

If you want to drop the speedos and go more natural, then Obelisk Beach or Cobbler's Beach could be for you.

Yep, you should feel comfortable wearing speedos at any beach (or pool) in Sydney. I doubt anybody will give it a second thought.

When do you arrive?

Are they also speedo friendly on the beaches of other cities? Brisbane? Melbourne? Perth?

Without having been everywhere in Aus, I think you will find everywhere swimwear appropriate is also speedo friendly.

Thanks for the replies, and I arrive in late February.

Most beaches in Melb are because there are a lot of early morning ocean swimmers who wear speedos, and St Kilda for example gets all kinds of swimmers during the day even a few full nudes when I've been there.

I swim at Point Lonsdale/Queenscliff beaches and there are always guys in speedos.

I'd say most beaches in Australia are speedo friendly or more specifically nobody seems to care.

I will be leaving for Cairns Dec. 22. Plan on spending Christmas on the beach! I've been lead to believe that is an Aussie tradition. ;)

Good advice Sam.

Electric, it's box jellyfish season up north so make sure you only swim in a netted off area! Or in your hotel pool.

Mostly, enjoy yourself. Hope you catch a lot of Christmas eye candy.

Thanks. I will certainly not stray outside the nets!
I hope all that (eye) candy doesn't make me sick...

For anyone in the States or anywhere else, check out https://www.instagram.com/budgysmuggler/ to see what some Aussies are getting up to in their speedos.

I like to check in every now and then and see how varied the love is for our favourite swimwear.

Hey this is why Aussies got sent to jail at the Malaysian F1 GP when wearing their Budgy Smugglers! Apparently it's not as ok over there.

I don't see too many speedos on the beach here in Terrigal but nobody seems to care.

At the pool where I lap swim, dork shorts are definitely in the minority.

I'm at Holloway Beach. So far not too many speedos. Only older gentlemen (like myself ;).

A major motivation for me moving to Oz 4 years ago was to wear speedos where no one cares and lots of other guys do too. You can't keep me away from pools and sometimes beaches these days.

Have a great trip down under dacondor, where you can wear speedos every day!

It was a very hot day here in Melbourne, Australia today and it gives me great pleasure to say that I was not the only man in speedos at the beach today. I went to a beach in the south east bayside area and was glad to see many guys in speedos. It was also great to see male/female couples on the beach with the male proudly wearing a speedo in front of his other half.
I think speedos are coming back into fashion which is great to see. Even the men that were wearing shorts were wearing very tight and small shorts. The best moment was when one guy turned up in board shorts, lied on his towel for a while and then after realising that myself and about three other guys around him were wearing speedos, he dropped his shorts and spent the reminder of afternoon in his speedos. This then led to guys further down the beach dropping their shorts and sun-baked in their underwear. All in all a great day.

Aussietriboy,

Love to hear it mate, nothing like a bit of positive peer pressure.
