Fina Approved - Is it ugly?

Hello,

I haven't bought any swimwear with the Fina approved thing on the back yet because I think it's ugly and just out of place...does anyone else think the same?

Also though, since I haven't bought any before, is it just a sticker that can be removed or is it a permanent thing there? it's stopped me buying some swimwear online because I've seen that on the back and unsure if it's permanent. From what I can tell it appears to be a permanent thing? If it is permanent, why on the back in such an odd placement, they couldn't have put it on the inside or if it needed to be visible, maybe on the side..

What's your thoughts?

It's permanent. It's a heat transfer label, same material as the logo on the front. Think of some of the suits that have the name of the maker in large letters on it, this is the same. Very difficult to remove without damaging the suit. Some here have tried solvents or scraping, etc. I think the damage to the fabric left from the effort would be worse than just leaving the stupid looking little label (yes, I hate them, too) in place. What I do like about them is that they identify a suit that is certified to be worn in serious competition, so at least that aspect of it has a little bit of coolness. Like I said, I'd rather it not be there, but it wouldn't prevent me from buying and happily wearing a little speedo with it on it if everything else about the suit is awesome.

Definitely permanent. I had a Head Suit that had it on the side. It is actually there for a reason and from my understanding, some competitions require suits worn to be FINA approved. No idea if that is true - it is just what I read some time back when I was wondering about it myself. Having it labeled does signify that the suit is considered a 'technical suit'.

I have a comp jammer that has the Fina label. I guess it has it because it's a tech suit with a tech fabric. Before this post, I never thought much about it and hardly noticed it. It does seem more noticeable on brief style suits. Mine is bonded to the fabric.
