I was watching a YouTuber who is an avid swimmer. He did a vlog when he went training in a pool and wore his speedo the whole time while training and so did his buddies. So I decided to look at the rest of his videos and I noticed he wears boardshorts on his beach trips.

This got me thinking that more guys probably own speedos but don't wear them in public unless they are training at the pool. What do you guys think?

I think that would be a good assumption. I know several guys that wear board shorts exclusively but wear a speedo underneath when they swim for "support". I believe that the obesity problem in America has been a major cause of men in America to not feel comfortable wearing something revealing in public. Women in America are much more scrutinized then men when it comes to weight issues. So women tend to feel more comfortable wearing an article of clothing that is much more revealing.

It can also be seen in everyday men's fashion. Snug boxer briefs, which don't hide much more than normal briefs seem to be the desired choice of underwear, but men's clothing has become baggier and looser.

I get off topic. The guys that wear speedos openly at the pool have a self-confidence that many men don't have just by the fact that they are working out to improve their physique and health. So they are willing to wear less and show more. The better a guy feels about his appearance, the more likely he is to show it off.

I thought most did, but never put a lot of thought in to it. Speedos under boardies just dry quick and you can get your water logged boardies off for when you get back into the car.

I think a lot of surfers wear a speedo under their wetsuits because baggy swim pants just bunch up too much. But I doubt that "most" North American men own a speedo. Only speedo lovers like us, and those that wear them for water related athletic use. I doubt that constitutes "most" men. And I agree, most men that wear a speedo for specific reasons such as pool swimming, water polo, or even just to wear for practical reasons underneath their wetsuits, would not be caught dead in one outside of those situations. So they leave their speedos in a drawer and instead wear their fucking swim trousers at the beach. Which is sad.

Yes I agree... I'm seeing more and more guys wear tailored trunk style swimsuits that expose the thighs and are above the knee. They are also more form fitting. I saw a guy wearing this style while he was jogging on the beach and most young guys are opting for the shorter length.
