It's been cold here in the US this winter. It has stopped me from doing a lot because once I get home I don't want to go out again. I put back on 10 of the 15 pounds I lost for my wedding and it makes me mad.

Does anyone have any good workout routines for getting into speedo shape? Good way to burn fat fast?

I'd also like to take up swimming fitness, but not with all the extra pounds....

Shovelling snow for 8 hours a day? Kill two birds with one stone!

I have started exercising and playing some sports and in the past 2 months I have lost about 7 pounds. I'm hoping to get these stupid stretch marks to become even small. So far it's working a little bit.

Do you belong to a gym? If you do, try going before you go home, or first thing in the morning. Going home and then going out is hard motivational wise, even in California weather. (Especially if when you get home the first thing you want to do is to grab a beer, like me!) I lost about 25 pounds a couple of summers ago running. Did a bunch at the local track, running the track and up and down the bleachers. When I couldn't run at the track anymore, I transferred to the treadmill and simulated the bleachers by increasing and decreasing the height of the treadmill. (not quite the same thing! but there is always the stair machine) I did some reading and they recommended varying the workout -- run faster, slower, harder, easier, etc, instead of just one speed. Don't know if that works for everybody, but it worked great for me. I also had to cut way back on what I was eating, which is hard when you are exercising like crazy because you are constantly hungry. I have found I can enjoy all the same foods I have always loved, I just have to eat less of them.

I now have cut back on the running and pretty much just swim, about a mile a day, about five days a week. I am not losing weight any more - not really trying - but it keeps me at about the same weight as long as I eat right.

By the way, you can take up swimming fitness anytime. No need to be slim first. At the gym I go to, almost none of the swimmers are thin. I am sure some people will judge no matter what, but I think most people working out are concerned about their own fitness, and have respect for anyone trying to better themselves, no matter where they are at on the fitness scale. So if you don't like other types of exercise, are just looking for variety, or just love to swim, its great. Go for it!
