Destruction of My Speedo Confidence

Hello there everyone,

For nearly 2 years my confidence has been depleting. Why? Too many factors. Ever since a parent of mine suffered a massive brain injury, my whole life took a major turn for the worse. I had to change jobs which resulted in a much lower wage. I became a caregiver. Prior to that, I suffered some other hardships. The result? I suffer from major bloating. I workout and my legs are in nice shape, I have naturally broad shoulders and my chest is nice. I was once complimented on my nipples. I have a nice speedo bulge. There are symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and other issues have come up. I have seen specialists in alternative medicine and conventional medicine. Even when I ejaculate, my belly gets so swollen it's scary. this is within 5-10 minutes of ejaculating. I was in Punta Cana and I wore my speedos and tanned in them. To be on the safe side, I tucked in my stomach. I am VERY WORRIED that if this becomes a chronic problem, I will be unable to wear speedos. I am no longer a very young guy. I am past 25. I already have the disadvantage of being 5'7" so that doesn't help at all. What can I do to help my confidence?

Here's a picture of me bulging in my speedos.

If you still enjoy wearing speedos, then just keep doing it! You look so hot in that DE!

Wear them ... I'm seeing a decent body and a nicely-filled Speedo. Trust me, people past 25 can wear Speedos ... and look damn good in them. It's all in the mind, my friend.

I am also 5'7". And at 37 years old, with a head and beard full of hair too white to hide with dye. And I'm only just starting to wear speedos! I too had IBS symptoms, and even worse, a very constricted esophagus, which made it very difficult to eat, and kept me very depressed. I also had small cysts on my skin in random places, typically thighs, belly, or butt; talk about a confidence killer. I cut out gluten and peanuts and that all went away. I now have a completely different outlook on life. I had visited several doctors over 10 years and none even suggested eliminating gluten. It didn't show up on allergy tests at all. You just have to try eliminating things out of your diet.

As for helping your confidence and depression, it may help you to go to yoga classes. I found it did much more for me mentally than physically. So much that I got a teaching certification. You'll find that your own happiness is more important than the opinions of strangers. So keep wearing whatever makes you happy!

speedoboi, I suffered a huge set-back last year. I was diagnosed with testicle cancer in the early spring, had to get one removed to save from spreading , then took chemo for 3 months all during summer. The result was gaining massive amount of weight from all the chemo, loosing hair, and everything else that goes along with it.

Im not gonna let that deter from me enjoying myself in a speedo, as I'm more motivated now to get in shape for this year. Trust me, I wish I was looking like you compared to what I look like right now.

Just go out and enjoy life--as someone said to me years ago, never let the actions of other people stop you from doing what you like!

Ill see you on the beach this year...in a speedo!

I've been thinking about su's comment speedoboi, and a lot of the conditions you described sounded very similar to the conditions my niece had years ago. She didn't have celiac disease, but the doctor's suggested taking dairy and gluten out of her diet, and she improved greatly. We are an Irish decent family with eating habits of the French/Italian's so this was a difficult thing for the family, but it surely made a difference, especially during stressful times.

Are you a big pasta eater? Maybe change some things to non-semolina/wheat pastas and breads and see if the bloating isn't as extreme, or change to non-dairy milks and creams. Take it gradually one item at a time and be prepared for a price shock, as the alternates are more expensive, but if it makes a difference, then it will be worth it. (I have a good gluten substitute for wheat recipe if you would like.)

Keep us posted on your progress and hope things turn around for your parents. Remember, you are among speedo friends and we are here to build confidence in the speedo wearer!

Keep speedoing, Snow

Confidence is all a mental game. And no matter what shape of body, feeling like you have control over things makes a HUGE difference.

I'd echo su and snowbrief... start with nutrition, which you have 100% control over. Experiment with your diet to see what works best. I think people (even the alternative health practitioners) tend to see one-size-fits-all solutions. But everyone is different. I've been rebuilding my entire diet over the last year, just through research and experiments. I cut out gluten for a long time, but didn't notice any real benefits. So, added it back. Cut out MSG... felt better. Cut out polyunsaturated vegetable oils... big improvements. Switched to coconut oil and real butter. Added whole milk and dairy (which I avoided most of my life) and was amazed how much they helped me. Started buying higher quality grass fed beef... didn't feel any different, but long term I think it's healthier. Current experiment is cutting out all grains... still not sure if it matters.

Point is... be methodical and see what works for you.

I'm 35 and more confident about my body than ever before. (And it's all nutrition; I don't work out. Maybe that's next.)

ExBex, you don't work out and you have a body like that, fantastic family genes!

You oddly described a lot of my current diet (other then 1% milk vs. whole) but I'm about 10 years older so the metabolism is slowing down a bit, so keep doing what you are doing!

We all have our own struggle. One friend teased me on my fight to lose weight and get in shape is taking too long.

Unfortunately, my swelling has gotten worse and no one can determine why. I decided to try this: I will be going for 4 sessions of non-surgical liposuction. I want to see how my body looks with the stubborn fat removed. Despite my ok level of body fat, I have to try this experiment. I will also look into cool sculpting - melting the stubborn fat cells.

Thanks but the mirror says otherwise. Next week I will be starting my non-surgical liposuction. It's the first of 4.

Can they even get any fat off your washboard tummy?
